Chapter 16| I Love You

Zayn was between a rock and a hard place. He didn't even know which one Ruth would be, to be honest. He was more focusing on making sure that nothing sexual would happen.

It wasn't until she let her hand run through his hair.

"You know...when we were younger I had the biggest crush on you."

"Ruth, in all due respect, you're a nice lady but I'm feeling a little uncomfortable."

He shuddered once he felt her hand drop down to his neck.

"R-Ruth...p-please."

For a moment she pulled back. She knew that he was a little awkward at times but right now something just didn't feel right.

"Zayn, what's wrong?"

"He wants you to step away from him."

Ruth slowly released her arms away from his fragile state. Liam clearly did not look pleased for what she was doing to him. He made his way over keeping his eyes on his sister.

She didn't know what happened to him. It's not her fault. But she didn't have a right to hit on him when she is going out with someone else. That wasn't right.

Liam gently let his hands run down Zayn's arms where he noticed him flinch slightly. He gritted his teeth a little before leaning his head down to whisper to him.

"Go to your room. I'll be in there in a minute."

Zayn left quickly entering his room and shut his door closed. He moved along where he now crawled onto his old bed. He pulled the small tiny blanket at the end of the bed up and over him.

He smelt the same boyish smell he had when he was younger. He gave a small smile as he curled up into a fetus position. But as he now tried to relax he could only begin to freak out.

He had gone out with a man who had raped both men and women. Not even that, he sexually harassed them and abused them. Which made him even worse.

Just at the thought of that he couldn't help but cry softly to himself.

It wasn't until Liam knocked on the door. He slowly entered the room letting his eyes dart up towards Zayn. He went to his side before sitting down on the bed.

"She won't do that again. I promise."

Zayn nodded his head lightly. Liam moved his hand over gently wiping underneath his eyes feeling the light touch of his tears. He gritted his teeth.

"Dinner will be done soon. I suggest you sleep until then. You need it."

Liam crawled over sliding onto the bed. He watched him closely before he lifted the covers so his best friend got underneath. Liam covered himself and let his arm wrap around his best friend's back. His other hand settled on his shoulder.

He sat up slightly letting his head rest on his chest. He gave a soft hum before he slowly drifted off into slumber.

"Zayn? Zayn, wake up."

He grumbled lightly snuggling into the pillow even further. He squeezed lightly rolling into it. Though there was a slight rumbling that he couldn't help but ignore it.

"Come on, the food's done."

He grumbled again. "Few more minutes."

The man chuckled. "You mean a few hours. Come on. My parents made Lasagna, your favorite."
