Chapter 26| Where it all Began

Five Weeks Later

Liam shut the car door and stared up at the house. He had to do this. He needed to see him again. He glanced around before he walked up the porch.

It didn't take long until he reached the door. He took a breath before he rang the bell. He waited patiently until the door abruptly opened.

Then it was Doniya that appeared.

He sent a warm smile as Doniya stared at him in surprise.

"Liam, what are you doing here?"

"I thought I'd come on by and see Zayn one last time before he attempts to leave."

Doniya gave a small nod. "I would let you in Liam but he said he doesn't want to see you or Louis anymore."

He nodded lightly. "I get that he doesn't want to see either of us. Despite that, I need to talk to him as his friend. Not as his boyfriend."

Doniya stared at him softly. Despite all the stuff, Zayn told her about what happened in the past couple of years she understood why Liam would worry about him.

She wanted to let him in and offer something to drink. She couldn't. Zayn would never forgive her. But this was Liam. He would get in one way or another.

"I'm sorry Liam," she said softly. "I would let you come in but you have to understand that he needs some time to himself. He can't think straight when it comes to the two of you."

He nodded lightly once again. "And I get that. But he needs to understand what he's leaving behind. He's leaving not only two people who love him but he's also leaving his friends and family. I need to talk to him."

"He does know that," she said. "But he believes this is the right decision to make."

"Please, I need to talk to him."

"Liam, I can't–,"

"I'll talk to him."

Doniya turned around where she looked at Zayn standing at the top of the staircase. He descended the staircase with a suitcase in his hand. He noticed the cast was taken off his hand.

Liam watched him carefully where he saw two other suitcases already packed as well. He probably came over in the nick of time. Thank god he did.

Doniya watched him carefully as he set the suitcase down near the walkway. He then continued over to the door. Doniya rose an eyebrow curiously.

"You sure? You said–,"

"Well, now I'm changing my mind." He looked over and found that same longing gaze. "Only because it's Liam."

There was a very short brief second. Then: "Come on in."

Liam sent a small smile before he stepped inside. Doniya closed the door and locked it. It was then that Liam looked around the house.

He kept his thoughts to himself as Zayn guided him upstairs. It wasn't long until they entered his old room and Liam couldn't help but smile at the stuffed animals Zayn kept.

He picked up the stuffed monkey and chuckled lightly. Zayn glanced back and gave a soft smile.

Liam looked over to him where Zayn had crossed his arms and stared at the floor. He moved his gaze up slightly and caught his eyes before he looked back down.
