Chapter 21| Liam Will Kill Josh

"Here."

Liam looked up to find Louis holding him a cup of coffee. He shook his head lightly and went to look at the floor. Louis lightly kicked his leg.

"Come on take it. We got here at one, it's seven now. If you plan on staying awake this is going to help."

He smiled softly and took the drink. "Thank you."

Louis sat down next to him where he sipped at his hot coffee. It was silence on end. It was a long 6 hours of waiting for the surgery to come to an end.

"I want you to know that I didn't intend on hurting Josh. I was angry and upset. I didn't have any control over what I was doing. You know what that's like."

He chuckled, "Sure. Because that hasn't crossed your mind yet."

Liam now sipped at his own drink. He pulled it back abruptly to speak up against his words, "I'll admit that it has crossed my mind but I didn't ever plan on acting on them."

"Oh, please," he chuckled. He spared a glance at him. "You wanted to get caught."

"If I wanted to get caught don't you think that I would have done it two months ago," he asked as he directed his gaze at him. "Or I would've done it sooner rather than later."

"I just think that you would do anything to keep Zayn safe." He said this time able to catch his eyes. "I think you would give up your own life for his own."

"I would," he proclaimed.

"Even risk the lives of others?"

"If it meant keeping him safe then yes I would."

They both stared at one another that they didn't notice the doctor entering the hallway now. Louis looked over before he stood up once he saw him.

"How is he?"

"He's doing great. We fixed his hand, though we are going to leave the implants of the plates in his hand for a few hours then we'll settle his hand into a cast for the next 3 to 6 weeks. If there is some improvement we'll move him to a splint."

Liam had stood up not long after Louis. 

"Well, what about the blood in his brain? Have you established anything about that?"

"That's the thing when the impact of the car hit him the part of his body that hit the ground first was his head. The back of his head ruptured, that's what caused the bleeding. Though I am willing to confirm that there may be a chance of amnesia."

"What type of amnesia are we talking about here," Louis asked.

"The most common one would be retrograde amnesia. But it's a slim chance that he will even have amnesia," he said. "We're going to move him into his own ward and then you can see him."

He turned and walked away as Liam slumped back down into his seat. He then proceeded to toss the cup into the trash. Louis stared at him.

"What if he does have amnesia?" He asked softly.

"Well," he started, "then it depends on what kind of amnesia he'll be dealing with. But as the doctor said it's more like he'll get retrograde. But don't worry. He'll remember soon enough if he does have it."

"I hope you're right..."

"What are you talking about?" He said jokingly before he placed a hand on his hip for more sassiness. "I'm me and I'm always right."
