"That poor druid girl." Gwen cooed as she accompanies me down the corridor to my chambers. I let out an unladylike snort, "Please don't be so modest. She deserves it."
Gwen turned to me, a horrified look on her face, "Why so?"
I scoffed and folded my arms over my chest, "If she had gotten her way, Arthur would have died and Camelot will be left with no heir to the Throne." I told her. "Morgana is Uther's daughter, but she died. Arthur's our last hope."
"Agreed," Gwen sighed, "It's just...I've never seen a girl so young executed before."
"Believe me, if you were in my village, you would have seen worse." I told her, before continue walking down the path.-
Drums sounded. I watched as the girl was brought up front, and some of the villagers were boo-ing at her. I feel pity for the girl, but also annoyed at her, for attempting to poison the Prince and a knight.
Uther was standing on a balcony, with several guards behind him. One of the executer had the rope ready. I gave her one final look before she stepped on the stage, and the executer putting the rope around her throat.
Uther gave me a signal to step onstage and pull the lever so the druid girl would hang. I do that everytime. I always have the honors to do so.
I pulled the lever, and shut my eyes. The crowd even erupted in gasps as the girl was hung for her life. All of the villagers dispersed after that, minding their own business. I sat on the edge of the stage, sighing to myself.
"What's wrong?" Gwen came over. "It's the girl, isn't it?" She guessed.
I nodded, "What will her father think of this? If we executed Sefa then we have declared war with the druids.""Camelot will have no chance of surviving. The druids are very magical people." Gwen's eyes widened.
"I have to bring this to Uther's attention." I realised, jumping up and running as fast as I can to the Throne Room.
I dodged servants holding trays and cloths, and pushed past some knights, earning a grumble from them. I have no time to lose. That girl's father will be pissed and all of Camelot will be in danger.
As I ran, I spotted Leon and Gwaine up ahead, and a little space between them, so I slipped myself between them and continued running towards the Throne Room.
I burst into the Throne Room, surprising Uther. I executed a bow, and panted heavily, "Your majesty! I have a warning!" I told him. Uther sat up straighter, "Do tell."
"By killing the druid girl, Sefa, you have declared war with the druids." I began, "Sefa's father is a very powerful man."
"A war is a war." Uther scoffed.
My eyes widened, "The problem is, they have magic. You do remember the druid boy who came to Camelot a few years ago, don't you?"
He stared at me intently, then nodded.
"My lord, allow me to bring message to the druids in the Druid Camp. If I am not back by dusk today, then close the gates." I rushed through my sentence. "This is my job as a Captain of Camelot, to ensure its residents are safe from sorcery." I said.
"Very well. Go if you wish. I won't stand in your way."
-
I speed-walked through the corridors. Then ran down the granite steps to the stables. I packed everything I needed to spend the night in the meadows if I must.
I saddled Storm and fed it before reining it. I swung on the saddle and grabbed the reins, "You are not to tell anyone about my journey to the druid camp." I told Abigail, who was mucking out Storm's stable.
Abigail nodded nervously, and I kicked Storm into a trot. And again, Storm almost squashed Gwaine and Leon, I had to hold on the reins as tight as I could to prevent falling as Storm reared on her hind legs and let out a neigh before dropping back down to all fours.
"Captain! Where are you going?" Gwaine asked, taking in my serious expression.
I ignored Gwaine, and kicked Storm into a gallop out of the courtyard. "Come on, Storm. We have to get to the druid camp before dusk!" I urged my horse.
-
"Wonder what's that all about," Gwaine shrugged.
"Either way, we must ask her maidservant, Abigail." Leon suggested.
