"How is the Captain doing, Gauis?" Guinevere asked, scurrying to get in pace with the court physican, gathering her skirts to run. Once she caught up to the old man, she waited breathlessly for his answer.
"She is doing well, don't worry. Sir Leon is there to accompany her in her chambers. Though she is in coma, I cannot tell when she will wake." Gauis answered.
"Poor Aurora," Gwen mused, "That ankle must be very painful."
Gauis nodded, "Indeed. Leon had said she blacked out during their journey back to Camelot. She has been ever since."
"I'll go pay her a visit." Gwen rushed to the direction of where she had came from to Aurora's chambers.
-
The door clicked open, and both Gwen and Arthur came in. Gwen had gone to go get Arthur before going in. Leon jumped from his seat, which is beside the sleeping Aurora.
"My lord! Guinevere!" Leon exclaimed, bowing at Arthur.
"How has she been doing?" Arthur asked, giving one nod to Leon.
"No one can tell, my lord." Leon answered.
"My father has also been ill. Gauis said he has a better chance of dying than Aurora. But I don't want that to happen to either of them." Arthur explained, "Gauis says my father only has two days left."
Beside him, Gwen looked like she was about to cry.
"All of us don't want two funerals." Arthur told Leon.
Leon stole a glance at Aurora, who is slumbering. "Only time can tell." He mused.
"Father says there is another jousting competition coming. He wants both of us to compete. And make Camelot proud. Those were his last words." Arthur explained.
"Yes. Let's train,"
The three of them left the room to train but Gwen went to finish her chores. She is still a servant, after all.
-
My eyes weakly open, blinking a few times to clear the blurriness in my vision. I tried to sit up, using my elbow to push myself up and stay in that position for a while.
My eyes trailed over to my ankle, which is wrapped around by cloth. Abigail burst into the room, her eyes widened when she saw me.
"M'lady! You're awake!" Abigail exclaimed, rushing over to me and gave me one teddybear hug. I was more relieved to see her than she was to see me. "Come on, I have a big surprise for you. Follow me." She helped me down the bed and slipped boots onto my feet carefully not to disturb the wound.
She rushed me down the steps slowly but quickly at the same time. It was not long before I discovered that we have arrived in the jousting pitch.
"Um..Abigail? What are we doing here?" I asked, watching as a knight struck his opponent with his lance.
"Just watch, it'd be fun!" Abigail clapped her hands together, and squealed.I looked and found out the knight who had struck his opponent is Sir Leon. I did not disturb him until the whole competition was over, and the crowd dispersed.
At the end of the competition, Leon took off his helmet and chatted with Arthur, his back facing me. Abigail grabbed my hand and immediately pulled me towards them.
"Abigail! No!" I yelled.
She tugged me so hard I knew she had forgotten about my wounded ankle. I had to run along because her grip was like a metal arm!
The men was in the middle of the pitch, so it was a long way to run. Abigail's grip never release me. I was also taken back when she started calling for Arthur and Leon's attention with so much volume that my ears are about to explode.
That's when Arthur looked behind Leon and saw us running towards them like fans. Even though I am not a fan of such an arrogant person who is yet to be King.
Following Arthur's gaze, Leon turned, he was as surprised as Arthur was to see me. "Aurora!" Both of them chorused in surprise.
"Leon," I mumbled under my breath.
Abigail pushed Arthur away from Leon and I to give us privacy, I looked up to Leon.
"I cannot believe that you're awake," he told me.
"Neither could I." I agreed.
"How is your ankle?"
I let out a sigh, "I'll manage."
He reached for my hands, and rubbed it with his. "I'm just happy to see you waking again."
"Thank you." I smiled, hugging him.
