Chapter 18

Bo knew they had to hurry, because Jia's breathing was so quiet and weak. He didn't know, where his parents were, and Jia and Jongdae were the only ones he had.
He was so thankful to have them on his side, that he wanted to do everything to save them.

The sea was dangerous, Jongdae had told him.
While Bo was walking behind Jongdae, who was carrying the sleeping Jia, he thought of his mother.
She would take him by his hand now and would knee down before him to stare into his teary eyes.
She would embrace him and tell him, that she is there for him.

But she wasn't there. He felt like a piece of his heart was missing.

Then his father, who was probably waiting at home for them, came to his mind.
His father didn't know about anything, he didn't know what his child and wife had been through.

Bo was lucky that he was still alive, right?
But what about his mom?

"I have to stop thinking so much."

A tear dropped silently down and Bo closed his eyes to avoid another tear to leave his eyes.
He needs to be strong, or he will never find his mother.

The little child ran faster to be beside Jongdae and Jia while walking.
Jongdae held Jia tightly, so her motionless body wouldn't fall down.

Bo stroke over the cold hand of Jia, that was hanging down, and whispered: "I still need you. Don't go yet."

"We won't let her go. She will be alright, don't worry."

"So you don't worry about her?"

"I do, but I shouldn't."

"Why?"

"It wouldn't change it... We should believe in her."

"Jia is strong."

"She has to be..."

And then Jongdae took his hand and whispered silently:

"I will also be strong... For you..."

Bo's heart suddenly got very warm and he thankfully looked into Jongdae's eyes.

I'm here

And even if it wasn't his mom saying this words to him, it felt similar and gave Bo a new will and strength for the exhausting trip, they were going to make.
