Thousand white blossoms were slowly falling from the little girl's hand and when the warm breeze from the ocean wouldn't take them with them into the blue sky, they would land softly on the grey surface of the gravestone. My sight got blurred by the tears that filled them.
I had brought a whole basket of the little blossoms from the old tree, and the 7 year old girl remained next to me, happily smiling at the beautiful flowers. She didn't see what was beneath the gravestone, she was still so young and innocent. She wouldn't understand that a life like hers could actually end one day. There was nothing purer than the soul of a child like her.
Like Bo.
With big eyes she observed the writing that was engraved in the stone. It was her first year in school, so it took her some time to read the names of Bo and Xiumin.
While she was repeating their names with her angelic voice proudly, I blinked and felt how a tear left my eye. She made their names sound so lively, so near.
As if they were still here by my side.
„Who are they?"
„They are the bravest and strongest men I know."
„Oh wow... I hope I'll meet them someday."
Her eyes sparkled in excutement when she poured the rest of the blossoms over the grave.
„Me too..."
I wondered how much time still was between us. Between me and them. Between life and death, between heaven and earth. Why was I still here, if I didn't belong here anymore? Was there something I needed to do?
In this very moment I felt a little item in my pockets and soon a smile was plastered on my lips. There was still one thing I had to do.
„Why don't you look for granny and grandpa?", I smiled at Liling and watched the carefree child run away over the flower field. When she was out of sight, I slowly bowed down and picked up the last flower from the basket.
„Hi...", I sobbed quietly and placed the blossom at the center of the grave. „I came back..."
I don't know how long I stood there staring at their names, but when my eyes didn't have any tears left and my legs almost couldn't carry my weight anymore, I suddenly felt someone stepping to me from behind.
Two strong arms carefully wrapped themselves around me and held me tight. I felt a warm breath against my head and two hands locked mine into them. There was no need for me to turn around, to know who was weighing me in his arms.
„I knew you would come...", the man murmered softly and brushed over my hair. Quietly crying I snuggled myself against him and let him secure me from falling down.
With a weak smile I turned around and noticed this dark eyes glancing into mine. After all he still had the same smile for me, even in the darkest hours. Smiling back at him I tried to remove the hair the wind had tossed, out of my face, when his warm hand sheepishly took mine down from my face. With his other hand he brushed over my white hair and whispered lovingly: "You are still as beautiful, as you used to be."
I felt how my cheeks were suddenly burning and my heart beat at a faster pace. Was I still able to feel something?
After all those years?
"Jongdae?"
„Yes?"
„I need your help with something..."
