☆Phoenix Brightly's POV☆
She didn't keep her promise.
She was gone at exactly 4 in the morning. And I got a call from Cindy, telling me that it's over.
I remember how my heart felt at that one exact moment, crushed.
I remember reaching to the hospital, and seeing all our friends cry. The doctors were in her room, trying to bring her back to life.
But her soul was already gone.
Her fragile body was laying on the bed, she looked so quiet.
It was the last time I got to see her face, until the heart monitor played a single note, and they covered her body with a white fabric.
She was gone.
Now we are all at her funeral, listening to one of the people crying, and trying to deliver their speech.
I got up from my seat, and left the place.
I couldn't handle it.
I won't see them bury her. I will not.
I ran all the way to her house, calling her name, hoping that I'll hear her voice telling me that she's in her room.
"Violet! Answer me please! Tell them that you're still alive" I yelled to no one. I went through each room, trying to find her.
I kept calling out her name, begging to hear something back.
I got to the last room on the house. Her bedroom. She has to be in there.
I know that she is.
I got in, still believing that she's in there, still hoping that I'll get to hug her one more time.
But, no.
Her room was empty, no one was there.
Her stuff remained at their place. Everything remained untouched.
I looked through her room, reliving the memories that we had. And I saw her Bucket list, and how she deleted No. 14 'Never fall in love' and wrote instead 'Allow yourself to fall in love' then checked it.
Not three days ago, she was sleeping on her bed. Not three days ago she was picking an outfit for school.
Not three days ago I snuck her out of this exact same window, and took her to an abandoned amusement park.
I went through her things, her notebooks, her clothes, that one perfume that she uses all the time.
I can still smell her scent. Her room still smelled like a mix of peaches and vanilla.
I sat on her bed, I wanted to cry, I wanted to let everything out. But my tears were all gone.
It's like I don't have any more tears.
I was destroyed, I didn't know what to do, "You're still here, Violet. I'll just wait for you" I said out loud.
She's still here.
She can't just fade aways from my life, it's too soon. Everything happened so fast.
"If you're not coming back, then teach me how to fade away" I let out, staring into nothing.
"Phoenix?" I heard a voice coming from downstairs, and I turned around so fast.
"Violet!" I called out, already going downstairs, trying to find where the voice came from. My heart was racing and my hands were shaking.
"Violet, where are you?" I asked, going through each and every room again.
"Phoenix.." I heard from behind me. I turned around, but it wasn't her.
It's not Violet.
"It's over, she's sleeping peacefully now." Asher said, looking at me with grief across his whole face.
I looked at him for a few seconds, then shook my head and sat down on one of the sofas.
"She's gone, isn't she? It's real.. She won't come back" I told him, still no tears coming out of my eyes.
"I was so happy that I finally found a reason to live for. I've never been this happy, Asher" I told him, realizing that our love was now dead.
"Violet would've wanted you to continue your life, and move on. She would've wanted you to find happiness" He explained.
"But she is my happiness, Asher. And now she's gone. I'll never be able to see her ever again" I told him, getting up and ready to leave.
"Wait, Phoenix" He said, I turned around and he got something from his pocket.
"While we were at the hospital, she told me about a few letters that she wrote, to all of us. She made me promise that I'll give everyone their letters. I gave the others their letters at the funeral.. And, here's yours"
He handed me a brown folded paper. I stared at it for a second, before I thanked him.
"Phoenix.. Violet would've wanted you to find happiness.. Don't give up just yet"
