"You know I think this party's kinda cool..."
"Hey, I know you...from my science class..."
"Did you hear about that new series on Netflix?"
And so the questions went as Jessica stood in a corner of the house. Bodies flowing in and out like the sea on the shore and Linda lost in it. Jessica couldn't remember the last time she saw her friend. What she does remember is that the moment they had entered the house and got themselves two cooldrink cans, a guy with bright green eyes and dark hair slicked to the back strolled towards them and lucky for him, Linda couldn't get away fast enough saying, "I'll be back soon." Though soon turned into a lot of hours later.
Which lead to Jessica talking to everybody who crossed her path and as it seemed they weren't too eager to stay. Coming up with excuses to deviate from her and her awkward conversation starters.
Frustrated and bored to the point that anything besides shopping would be entertaining. She decided to wander the house and it caused her lots of trouble, opening doors that were closed which meant that they were occupied, though Jessica was polite and decided to knock. Once no one answered she would open the door and come to the realisation as to why no one answered. If she were in a cartoon it would be her eyes that would crack like glass or pop out of its sockets because of what she had seen.
It was then that she came across a room. The door was left ajar and there were no strange sounds coming from it either. Eager to escape from the loud noise (albeit the room was part of the house and would therefore still have the music).
Slowly opening the door, she peeked inside, nobody was inside. Albeit the window was open with the curtain swishing around in the slow wind. Taking a closer look, she realised she was in a boy's room. It might've been neater than her brothers but the fresh minty smell was still around, the cupboard lined with trophies and framed certificates hanging on the wall. A photo stood on the beside table and when she was about to look at it something, more someone stopped her.
"What are you doing in here?" A deep voice sounded, she stopped in her tracks, her entire body freezing up like she was under a cooling spell of sorts. This cannot be happening! This can bloody hell not be happening!
"I said, what are you doing in here!?" His voice grew louder and she was sure that if she didn't turn around and answer him, he would jump her and do things -not what you're thinking- to her.
Slowly she turned, like she was about to be arrested for a crime she didn't yet commit (killing Linda for ditching her of course). She faced the boy and a wave of nervousness filled her figurative stomach. How is he so damn cute!?
She took slow breaths taking the boy in with all his caramel skin and buzzed hair. "I'm so sorry, it's just...the door was open and my friend ditched me and I got bored since I don't know anybody and I'm an awkward duck since almost nobody wanted to speak to me when I spoke to them and well, I just realised that parties are not my scene and that I should shut up because you probably don't care about what I just said."
She turned towards the door with her head down, not prepared to show him how ashamed she felt, though before she exited the room a loud wave of laughter erupted inside the room.
She turned to see, the boy laughing holding his stomach. She didn't understand what was so funny and as if reading her mind, "You're so cute when you're scared."
