As hr neared the counter, Jessica turned to face and him and her eyes widened.
At this, Clifford immediately noticed, "What makes you think you can just come back here?" He asked, his voice going an octave higher than he'd expected.
"Just stay out of this, it's none of your business." Grant said, pressing his fingertips into the marble of the countertop making them turn a white in colour.
He lifted his toes to see Jessica with her back turned to him, "Jess...I'm sorry for ignoring you like that...can we just talk?"
"About what exactly?" Clifford chimed in, not caring that the guy who stood in front of him was a lot more sexier than what he had imagined when Jessica explained to him. But being a good friend, he kept on his best poker face when inside his organs were screaming for him to touch the guy's hair and rape his face with his tongue.
Grant rolled his eyes at him and once again tried to get Jessica's attention. Jessica however wasn't going to entertain him, he had guts coming back to speak to her she had to give him that but that was it. She was done with people who was only with her just because they felt obliged to and not because they wanted to, she hated it. But he came back, he's not totally ignoring you and he came back to apologise. The angel on right shoulder said in a timid voice.
What! No, he doesn't deserve you. Girl he played you and for that you shouldn't do anything. The little devil on her left shoulder said.
Her mind was at war but she wanted to listen to her heart. Though, that was what always lead her to her downfall. She allowed so many people to come in and break her fragile walls and allowed them to hurt her and lead her into the emotional state she was in a couple of weeks ago. But what if he isn't like the others? The little angel asked and the little devil answered, It doesn't matter, your happiness is what is at hand here and he is not the answer.
Though she ended up listening to the little angel since her curiosity got the better of her and put her hand on Clifford's shoulder. He turned to her and she looked at him in a way that he knew what she wanted. After mumbling an, "I'll be at the side if you need me." he left them.
She looked to the ground when she said, "I can't take this Grant. I can't take it anymore too many have hurt me so many times and I've allowed it. Am I doing the right thing now? Will you hurt me in the end or even at the end of this day when your friends come back?"
Grant was speechless. Just like the previous night, the girl in front of him wasn't afraid to voice what she was feeling. She told him straight what she did and did not want and Grant knew that with the look she had in her eyes and the tone of her voice, he needed to let her know she wasn't doing the wrong thing.
