For awhile Tom didn't take his eyes off of me.
I was still adjusting to this vampire lifestyle. I screamed when I saw my fangs. I passed out when I found out about my super sonic speed.
My senses were more defined, which made my training easier. Not easy, but easier.
I had passed my gymnastics and was on to training on using weapons.
"Point it down. Are you trying to shoot me?" Tom laughed, coming over to me. I blushed and put the pistol in my holster. I loved it.
"I think I did good today. I hit the target four out of five times." I smiled.
"Good job." He said, kissing me softly.
"You're sweaty." I laughed, pushing him away.
"I just came from the weight room." He told me.
"Can I watch you in the weight room tomorrow?" I asked, slightly embarrassed.
"Of course." He said, unabashed. "It doesn't surprise me that you'd want to see me flex." He winked at me, taking my hand in his. "Now come on, I have a surprise for you."

When we arrived back to the palace, the guards let us in. There were at least fifty guards in this half of the building. They paced up and down hallways, managed all doors leading in and out of the palace, and then there was the help who cooked and cleaned.
"What's your surprise?" I asked as we went up the stairs.
"If I told you it wouldn't be a surprise, would it?" He smiled, squeezing my hand.
"I guess not..." I frowned.
We got to the floor where our room was and he led me to the door. I was excited as I was about to enter until I heard someone clear their throat.
"Sorry if I am interrupting, but I do not believe we have met yet. I am Jacie, Nathan's mate." A girl came up to us. She curtsied in front of me with a warm smile.
"Lovely to meet you, Jacie." I replied, curtsying to her.
"Oh, love, you must not curtsy to me. You are-"
"Very polite but it is not needed." Tom interrupted. Him and Jacie exchanged looks for a moment.
"Uh, well, my name is Maisie." I said.
"Yes, of course. Thomas and Nathan have told me much about you. They are right. You are very beautiful and kind." Jacie smiled.
"Thank you so much. As are you." I replied.
"I can not wait until Friday. It will be a most memorable day for all the empire." Jacie told me. I looked at Tom.
"What is happening on Friday?" I asked.
"You have not told her?" Jacie asked Tom.
"I was getting there, Jacie, before you interrupted me." Tom growled.
"Someone tell me." I sighed, looking back and forth between the two.
"Alright. I will leave it to you, then." Jacie said, shooting Tom and glare and offering a smile to me before walking away.
"Why are you so rude? I want to be friends with her." I complained to Tom.
"You two will be stuck with each other for the centuries to come. You have plenty of time to establish a friendship. Now, for your surprise." Tom said, gesturing for me to enter the room.
