Last To Know (The Wanted)

Chapter Sixteen

You would not believe the view I had.

I was watching Tom doing his sit ups, jumping jacks, and push-ups.

"You're distracting me." He said breathlessly as he did his seventieth push-up.

"How? I'm just sitting here." I said innocently.

"Now that we've mated, I can feel what you're feeling and it's a strong bond when you're near me. You feel love and lust." He told me. I was silent for a moment.

Did I love him?

I wasn't one to fall into a relationship too fast. Although we did have sex, or mate, I really didn't know if I loved him yet.

"Sorry." I finally said.

"What are you apologizing for?" He asked me.

"Distracting you." I replied. He chuckled once before doing five more push-ups.

"It's fine, Mais." He said, doing his one hundredth push-up and then standing up. I swore I drooled when I saw his muscular body with no shirt and shorts on. "Take a picture, it lasts longer, love." He winked and I blushed.

"You're mine. I'm allowed to steal glances." I smiled as he kissed my cheek. "Eww, sweaty!"

"Aw, nothing to be afraid of." Tom laughed, picking me up in a big sweaty hug. I squealed.

"Tom! Ew, ew, ew! Put me down!" I shrieked. He carefully laid me down on the ground on my back. I went to get up but he held me down.

"You're going to help me." He told me, positioning himself above me in a push-up position.

He grunted before leaning down and pecking my lips before lifting himself back up. I looked up at him and I could tell he was much happier this way.

"One." He smirked.

"Sir Thomas, miss Maisie, dinner is ready." A young woman came up to us. She was wearing an apron and her hair was back in a net.

"Thank you. You are dismissed." Tom waved off.

"Tom, don't be rude." I scolded. "Thank you, we will be inside in a few minutes." I smiled politely to the young woman.

"She is a maid. I can speak to her any way I want to." Tom grumbled.

"No, you can't." I told him. "No matter if she is a maid, no matter if you are a prince, she is a person just like you. Don't be rude." I snapped.

"Okay, okay, why does it bother you so much?" He asked me.

"Because. Back on earth I was the underdog. I was picked on and told to do everyone's dirty work. I was the assistant in my work building and I was talked down to. I didn't like it and I think everyone deserves the same degree of respect." I explained.

"Oh. I'm sorry, I didn't know..."

"It's fine." I offered a small smile. "Just be nicer to the help, okay?" He nodded. "Now, let's go down and get dinner. I'm starving!"

After dinner, we were headed upstairs when Kassimuss ran into us. He looked furious.

"Thomas. You went against my wishes." Kassimuss said angrily.

"You cannot keep Maisie away from me! She is my one and only soulmate." Tom argued to him, pushing me behind him.

"After our meeting yesterday you mate her?" Kassimuss snapped. I looked between them.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"You didn't even tell the girl?" He scoffed. "I have promised my son to the daughter of the Wolvian empire Alpha. He wasn't supposed to mate you."

"I will not marry her, Kassimuss. I love Maisie and only her." Tom stated angrily.

"This will bring a stronger alliance between the empires but could even cause war if you refuse to marry her." Kassimuss told him.

"I only want Maisie. Not any other girl. Especially not a werewolf." Tom growled.

I began getting confused. What was going on? Wasn't Kassimuss the one who specifically told Tom and I to mate?

"You can unmark her. She is not fit to be future queen. Princess Ava of the Wolvian is." He said sternly.

"No! I only want Maisie. No one else." Tom said possessively, wrapping an arm around my waist, but still in a protective stance.

"This is all of your fault!" Kassimuss glared at me before stomping away. Tom slowly relaxed and we went to the bedroom, my mind swarming.

What just happened, and why hadn't Tom told me?
