I avoided the trio and instead spent the next day with the twins. I gathered my stuff the next day to go back home. "Can't you stay for the rest of the holiday dear?" asked Mrs Weasley.
"Oh no, I need to spend time with my uncle before going to school since it will be my first time living without him." I told her. As I was carrying my bag downstairs Harry came to me.
"Let me help you." he said taking my bag. "So you, um seemed really comfortable in Diggory's arms that night." he said casually. Ooh someone was jealous.
"I was feeling faint he was just helping me that is all." I said trying not to smile. Harry looked skeptical then he smiled.
"Oh, about what you told us-"
"Miley! Were you leaving without a goodbye?" George said coming up. I didn't get to talk to Harry again before I left.
My uncle was really glad to see me, "Miley! I've been worried! The dark mark! What happened?" he said hugging me.
"I'm fine uncle Remus. Besides I had a dream about it so I wasn't really surprised." I said.
"What, why didn't you tell me? You never tell me of anything you see these days. I don't like the secrecy." he said.
"I need to put this stuff upstairs." I said moving swiftly from the living room.
The following day I went to Diagon Alley to buy my school things and the rest of the ingredients for the Wolfsbane Potion. I got to meet Lavender Brown who was not my favourite person in the world while buying my things. After that I went to the apothecary to buy my ingredients. Unfortunately I had to go to Knockturn Alley to buy the final ingredient, Vampire Blood. That place was creepy.
"Wot you want wiv vampire blood eh?" the guy at the shop asked.
"Um, healing powers."I said and he snorted.
"Well cost yuh much tha' will. Ten galleons." he said.
"Five." I negotiated.
"Eight an' I'm not goin' down neither." his voice irritable. I turned as though I was leaving. "Wait seven and tha's it." he pleaded and I relented. It wasn't because I had no money that I negotiated it but because I knew that the guy had gotten it illegally anyway.
Two days later I sat with Ari and Lou while the Potion was brewing. It would be ready in about three days in time for the full moon.
"And he was accusing me of being comfortable in Cedric's arms!" I was telling them.
"If this Cedric is as handsome as you say then I don't blame Harry for being jealous. I would dump him for a guy like that." said Ari dreamily.
I sighed "We aren't dating. And he doesn't look at me like that." I said. At this Lou, who usually started playing with his phone when we started talking about boys, spoke up.
"He likes you." he said.
"What makes you say that?" I asked curiously.
"We guys don't waste time getting jealous if we have no feelings for the girl. Uttely pointless." he said. My heart swelled.
"How is it possible for me to like three very different guys at once?" I moaned.
We had arranged that since Uncle Remus was indisposed to take me to Kings Cross, Mrs Clearwater and Ari were to take me there.
"Don't forget to take the Wolfsbane and not to skip a meal and to take care-" I said to uncle Remus
"Miley, I can look after myself. You go to school and focus please, not just in pranking Severus." said my uncle.
"Sometimes I doubt if you were a marauder Moonshine." I said with an eyeroll. He froze suddenly.
"What? I'm just kidding." I asked.
"You just called me Moonshine. Only Rhine called me that." he said. Okay weird.
"Great minds think alike." I said. "Uncle Remus you know this house can hold a whole family right? You are still young and you have your whole life ahead of-"
"Miley. Go. Eleanor's waiting." he said turning away.
Ari was breathless by the time we reached the Hogwarts Express. "So beautiful." she gasped. Her mother agreed.
"Yes. I remember bringing Rhine here for the first time. And bringing Penelope too. It is astounding. Oh, there's your nice friend Ginny." said Mrs Clearwater. We went over to the Weasleys and Mrs Weasley and Clearwater totally clicked.
"Hey Miley. Hey Ari." said Ginny and we greeted her back. I pointed out Harry and Cedric to Ari. "I'd definitely go for the older guy." she confirmed and I hoped it was only because Harry was a year younger than her.
"Not introducing us to your totally amazing friend Miley?" said George.
"Forgive her bad manners, I'm Fred-"
"No. I'm Fred-"
"Oh really George-"
"Ari. These are Fred and George don't ask me which is which. I don't know." I said.
"Well. Miley's told me all about y'all." said Ari getting her flirt face on.
"Good things I hope." said George.
"You are the rebellious ones, although, she said nothing of your striking appearance." she said.
"Ok, I'm out." I said leaving them alone.
After saying our goodbyes, Ginny and I found an empty compartment to sit in.
As the journey wore on, Ginny said to me. " So, I was talking to Hermione the other day. She told me to stop being shy around Harry. To be myself, like you are. She said that then maybe he'll notice the kind of person I am and like it. Maybe that's why he's liking you now."
"Don't be silly Ginny, Harry doesn't-" I said.
"I can see that he does. Hermione says maybe I should start seeing other guys. Do you think so?" she said.
"I'm your best friend Gin. Whatever you do I'll take your side okay? And lets be real, you and me, we make them guys sweat." I said and she smiled at me sadly. The possibility that Harry was interested in me struck her really bad.
As the train moved on I couldn't help wonder: What if Harry saw Ginny's new attitude and liked it, liked her over me?
That stung.
