Dear Sirius.

I hope you are doing well. The start of the summer term seems to be good for everyone. Blaise and Cedric aren't angry with me anymore although Blaise wants to be just friends for now. Harry is following your orders to stay indoors after the Crouch incident and we've been helping him practice for the third task. I reckon he has a fighting chance. So everyone is fine really.

Well everyone but me.

Ever since Moody has been teaching me a new kind of powerful defense magic, I feel freer and more protected even though it scares the hell out of me that I have the dark mark. However I have this problem, daddy. I have these blank memories where I wake up and I don't remember where I've been. I don't know what to do. What if what Crouch said is true? Voldermort is getting stronger? Will I have to join him because I have his mark?

I'm scared Dad.

Miley.

I didn't tell him the extent of my powers. The mood swings had subsided but if I got too angry or too happy any other emotion really, the earth responded. I would perform magic without even realising it.

"My dears," said Professor Trelawney, sitting down in her winged armchair in front of the class and peering around at us with her strangely enlarged eyes, "we have almost finished our work on planetary divination. Today, however, will be an excellent opportunity to examine the effects of Mars, for he is placed most interestingly at the present time. If you will all look this way, I will dim the lights. . . ."

The fire was the only source of light now. Professor Trelawney bent down and lifted, a miniature model of the solar system, within a glass dome. Each of the moons glimmered in place around the nine planets and the fiery sun. We watched lazily as Professor Trelawney began to point out the fascinating angle Mars was making to Neptune. Suddenly the earth called to me.

"Professor!" I called.

"Hush Miss Black-" she started.

"Harry is having an apparition." I said. The whole class stared at him. I moved up and touched his face. My eyes flashed blue as I concentrated on drawing power from the earth.

He was riding on the back of an owl, soaring through the blue sky toward an old, ivy-covered house on a hillside. Lower and lower they flew, until they reached a dark and broken window in the upper story of the house and entered. Now they were flying along a gloomy passageway, to a room at the very end. Through the door they went, into a dark room whose windows were boarded up.... Harry had left the owl's back...

There were two dark shapes on the floor beside the chair . . . both of them were stirring. . . .One was a huge snake . . . the other was a man ... a short, balding man with watery eyes and a pointed nose ... he was wheezing and sobbing on the hearth rug.

"You are in luck, Wormtail," said a cold, high-pitched voice from the depths of the chair in which the owl had landed "You are very fortunate indeed. Your blunder has not ruined everything. He is dead."

"My Lord!" gasped the man on the floor. "My Lord, I am ... I am so pleased, and so sorry."

"Nagini," said the cold voice, "you are out of luck. I will not be feeding Wormtail to you, after all... but never mind, there is still Harry Potter. Then we will get the Seer on our side."

The snake hissed. I could see its tongue fluttering.

"Now, Wormtail," said the cold voice, "perhaps one more little reminder why I will not tolerate another blunder from you."

"My Lord ... no ... I beg you." The tip of a wand emerged from the chair. It was pointing at Wormtail.

"Crucio!" said the cold voice.

Wormtail screamed, as though every nerve in his body were on fire, the screaming filled my ears as the scar on Harry's forehead seared with pain; he was yelling too. Voldemort would hear him, would know he was there. I pulled him back.

"Harry! Harry!"

Harry opened his eyes.

"Go to Dumbledore now!" I said raising him up. I ran to Moody's office to tell him what had happened but he wasn't there.

On the morning of the third task an article appeared about Harry in the Daily Prophet. I was angry at Draco for telling Rita that Harry is a Parselmouth. Now Rita Skeeter had made him out to be a delusional attention seeker because she saw him being hurt by his scar. I was so angry that I looked for Draco and found him in Snape's classroom with Blaise.

"How could you do that to him?" I screamed.

He smirked. "Because I unlike you am not in love with Potter." he said.

"Back off Draco." Blaise warned.

"No. You are just in love with attention you lowlife son of a-" I didn't finish the thought. Somehow in my anger I had connected to the earth. Draco was hurled across the room and hit his head on the door frame.

I smiled. It felt good to release that kind of power. It felt good to inflict pain.

"Miley did...did you kill him? His head looks cracked." said Blaise in horror. I snapped back to reality.

His head was cracked and he was bleeding heavily. His breath was slow and wheezy. What had I done?
