Dinner was a feast that night. I made sure I tasted every dish within my range.
"Are you on a fattening diet?" Ginny teased and I grinned.
"Now that is what I call beautiful." said Lee Jordan and I saw a girl with big blue eyes and long silvery blonde hair approach our table.
"Are you wanting ze bouillabaise?" she asked but Ron needed a minute before he could talk.
"Yeah. Have it." said Harry.
"You 'ave finished wiz it?" she asked.
"Yeah it was excellent." said Ron breathlessly. He watched her cross the hall in a trance. Harry laughed and his defence was "Shes a Veela!"
"Of course she isn't. I don't see anyone else gaping at her like an idiot." said Hermione.
"That's not a normal girl. They don't make them like that at Hogwarts!" said Ron.
"They make them okay at Hogwarts." said Harry and I almost smiled but I noticed he wasn't looking at me but at Cho Chang. Ouch.
"Hey guys, your friend just arrived." I said to the twins as Ludo Bagman and Crouch took seats with the teachers.
After the feast Dumbledore introduced them to us.
"Mr Crouch and Mr Bagman will be joining myself, Madam Maxime and Professor Karkaroff on the panel to judge the champions. The casket please Mr Filch." said Dumbledore. Filch brought forward a wooden casket encrusted with jewels. It looked very old.
"The instructions on the tasks to be faced by the champions have been examined by Mr Crouch and Mr Bagman. There will be three champions chosen, one from each school. They will face three tasks spaced across the school year and will be chosen by an impartial judge. The Goblet of Fire." Dumbledore tapped the casket and retrieved a centuries old Goblet which contained blue flames inside.
"Aspiring champions will put their names and school in the goblet. Tomorrow night the goblet will release the three names of the chosen champions. May I say that whoever is chosen has to see the tournament to the end. Putting your name in the goblet constitutes a binding magical contract. Therefore you should be sure that you will compete before you put in your name. I will place the goblet on the entrance hall. I will be drawing an ageline to prevent anyone under seventeen from participating. For now, goodnight ." said Dumbledore.
"An ageline? That should be fooled by an ageing Potion." said Fred and he and George turned to me grinning.
I rolled my eyes. "Fine Ill make it for you." I said.
That night after making the potion, I lay down to sleep. I dreamt that I was walking toward the Entrance Hall. I stood before the goblet performing a very dark confounding spell. Then I entered a piece of parchment written Camilla Black into the goblet. I awoke in confusion and tiptoed to the entrance hall. Someone stood by the goblet muttering some kind of spell.
"Hello?" I said and upon hearing my voice, he ran off dropping a parchment. I picked it up. It read "Camilla Black".
The next morning I gave Fred and George the ageing potion. I watched as they were thrown out of the ageline spotting identical beards.
"Black. We need to talk." said Draco dragging me outside.
"About what?" I asked Draco.
"Actually it's me who wants to talk." said Blaise coming toward us.
"What do you want?" I asked rudely.
"I'm leaving. Next time don't drag me into your mess Blaise." said Draco walking away.
"I want to apologise. What I said the other day was tactless." he said.
"Do you now like half-breeds?" I asked.
"Camilla please. I was raised differently from you. You know that. My beliefs are different from yours okay? I never complain when you speak ill about my friends."
"That is your idea of an apology?" I asked.
"No, look I'm sorry. Please forgive me." he said taking my hand in his. My heart skipped a beat.
"Okay." I whispered.
"Let's go to the lake. I made a picnic. Well, I had it made for us." he said.
"Just the two of us?" I asked nervously.
"Yeah. I mean if you want to." he said.
"Is it a date?" I asked.
"Only if you want it to be. Come on." he said pulling me toward the lake. I enjoyed being there with him even though he could be a jerk at times.
"Camilla," he said drawing closer to me. Uh-oh I knew that he wanted to kiss me. However I was saved by a vision. I was in the Great Hall sitting with the other students. The goblet of fire glowing. Dumbledore picked a piece of parchment and read "Harry Potter.".
"Save him, Miley, save him." said a female voice.
"Camilla? Are you okay?" Blaise said. I felt weak.
"Dumbledore. Take me to him." I said but Dumbledore was nowhere to be found so in the end I went and told Moody about the vision.
I was uneasy during the feast that night.
I was barely listening when the Champions were chosen. "The champion for Dumstrang will be Viktor Krum." Normally I would be jumping up in joy but not today.
"The champion for Beauxbatons is Fleur Delacour."
"The champion for Hogwarts will be-" I held my breath "- Cedric Diggory." I heaved a great sigh of relief. So my vision was just a scam. I cheered loudly and happily for Cedric.
"Now that the champions have been chosen-" started Dumbledore but the goblet was glowing. He reached for the parchment and stared at it. "Harry Potter." he read.
Damn visions.
