Chapter 51 - The Papers

Chapter 51

Louis's POV

“Louis… Louis wake up. Someone’s here.”  Harry voice woke me up.I didn’t want to leave the warmth of Harry’s guest room bed. I decided to stay here for a few days because everything at the apartment made me remember Jillian. 

“Wake me up later.” I said, making him leave the room but it was no use. He was still pushing me to wake up. 

“Lou! Jillian’s here.” That made me shot awake. Jillian’s here. She’s actually here. 

“What? Where? Please don’t tell me you told me that just to make me wake up.” 

“No, she’s really here in the living room. She said she needs to talk to you.” I jolted up and made a dash for the stairs. I saw a figure sitting on the couch, the figure that I know too well.

“Jillian! Oh my God you’re really here! I really missed you! I’m so sorry for everything! I love you!” I said while trapping her in a tight hug. She didn’t hug back.

“You know damn well I’m not here to fix things.” Jillian said in a sassy tone. I quickly let her go. This is a whole new side of Jillian.

She handed me a long brown envelope. Oh no.

“What’s this?” I opened the envelope and took some papers out. The top of the first page had the words that I was afraid to see in bold letters. 

“DIVORCE PAPERS”

“The divorce papers. I already made my lawyer fix everything. We just need your signature and to talk to your lawyer to fix everything on your side.” She said a monotone. 

“What?” I said, now tears are starting to pour down.

“I told you,i want a divorce. I just need your signature and everything else is taken care of.” 

“Jillian. Don’t do this. Please.”

“You did this to yourself.” She said, not even looking at me. 

“I know you don’t want this divorce. I know you, you love me. You.. you love me.” 

“Louis, I LOVED you. I loved you before. I don’t love you now.” 

“That’s not true! You love me! You… you love me!” I kept on repeating to myself.

She loves me. She does.

“Let’s cut the crap. Just sign the damn papers so that I can leave.”

“No.” I took the envelope and brought it in the kitchen. I took the lighter from the drawer and lit the buttom of the envelope. I dropped it on the sink and just watched it burn to ashes.

“What are you doing!” Jillian came in and saw the happenings. She quickly pushed me out of her way and turned the faucet on.

“What the hell!” she said, looking at the burned (and wet) papers. I can see the anger in her eyes.

My tears just started streaming down my face. My legs couldn't hold it anymore, they gave out. I was now on my knees, trying everything to make her change her mind. 

"Please Jillian, I love you with all my heart. I never loved anyone as much as I love you. You're my everything. Please." I tried. I held on to her legs but she just took my arms off.

"No Lou. No. Just... no. You... you did this to yourself." she quickly took her belongings and went for the door. But before she opened it, she looked back at my state with a poker face.

"I'll be back with a new set of papers. Better make sure you talk to your lawyer soon."

And she was out the door.
