Bribes

Elise's POV

After Alex gave me his hug I turned and saw my dad looking at us. I smiled "Hey dad how did the meeting go?"

He smiled "Good sweetheart I actually need to talk to you later about it."

I gave him a confused look but nodded anyway "Alright."

Alex walked up to me and tugged on my hand "allez debout!(Come on get up!)"

I giggled "Gee just as sassy as his father!"

I picked up Alex and he turned to me "Jette-moi dans la piscine afin que je puisse éclabousser l'oncle Brad et l'oncle Sid!(Throw me in to the pool so I can splash uncle Brad and uncle Sid!)"

I nodded and threw him near the two. Brad screeched like a girl and jumped into Sid's arms.

My dad, Alex, and I bursted out into laughter. I quick grabbed my phone and took a picture of them.

Sid threw Brad off of him. Alex teased Brad "Tu es un chat effrayant!(You're a scaredy cat!)"

Brad shook his head "Non! (No!)" They kept on arguing and I laughed.

I spoke up "Brad he's only 4! Stop arguing with him!"

Alex smiled "Yeah I only four!" Brad shook his head "I still won the argument so that's all that matters!"

Alex face palmed and I laughed at his actions. I smiled "I think he also gets the sassiness from his uncle Brad."

Brad got out of the pool and put his hands on his hips "Damn right he does!"

I yelled at him "Brad language!" Luck was not on my side and Alex yelled "Damn!"

My dad spoke up "Alex that isn't a nice word! Don't say that!" Alex started to scream it even more.

Brad cut him off "Alex if you stop saying it I'll take you to your favorite ice cream place."

Alex's eyes light up "Oui!(Yes!)" I looked at Brad "You bribed him!"

He nodded "Yeah I figured it works on you so why wouldn't it work on him."

I shook my head and smacked him on the arm "Hey!" He laughed "I only speak the truth!"

My dad nodded "He's right, when you were little we would always bribe you. We still do."

I shook my head "You do not bribe me anymore!"

Brad spoke up "Elise if you would shut up I'll fine you 20 bucks."

I nodded "Deal!---oh wait! Hey! That wasn't funny!"

Brad laughed "You proved yourself wrong!"

Alex ran up to Brad "Ice Cream! Ice Cream!"

Brad nodded and took Alex out for ice cream.

My dad looked at me and Sid "I'll need to talk to you two. What I'm going to tell you will be a secret! It is not open to the media until the Penguins organization decides it is!"

We both nodded and sat down at the table on the porch wrapped in towels.

Mario's POV

I looked at Sid than back at Elise "The Penguins have decided to do something the NHL has never seen before. They are signing a female hockey player.---"

Elise cut me off "Amanda Kessel or Hilary Knight?" I shook my head "Niether."

Sid spoke up "Then who?"

I smiled "Elise, Rutherford and the rest of the organization thought you would be the best fit. They think your leadership and dedication would be a good change to the Penguins locker room. They also think you will be a good fit for the ice."

She smiled and screeched and hugged me the Sid. She yelled "Yes! This is my dream come true!"

But the suddenly her smile faded. I looked at her worried "Sweetheart what's wrong?!"

She sighed "I can't dad! I have treatments to much and doctors appointments to play! What happens at the away games?! It's going to take so much out of me! I don't know if I can play like I use to!"

I shook my head "Sweetheart you will be fine. I played when I had cancer. It is exhausting but if you want to be in the NHL you will play. If you want to decline the deal it's fully your chose. We need to know in the matter of 4 days."

She nodded "Okay I'll think about it." I hugged her and left.

Sid's POV

I turned to her when Mario left "So what do you think?"

She smiled lightly "What I think right now is I want to play. But in the long run will it be worth it? If I miss so many treatments I don't think I'll make it."

I nodded "Maybe we can schedule them to be at all the home game. If you think about it a away game is only like 2 day! But it's not my choice it's yours."

She nodded "Yeah that's a good idea! But how will the team react to having a girl on the team?"

I smiled "They will love you! Trust me!"
She smiled and hugged me "Thanks Sid you're the best!"

Mario's POV

I walked up to my room. I grabbed the picture of Anne and Elsie.

Tears started to stream down my face. Anne was the perfect mother. Elise is the perfect daughter.

Why? Why?! Did god take Anne away from us! What did she ever do wrong!

I looked at the picture and called down a little I whispered "She needs you now Anne! She had a long journey ahead of her and it's not going to get any easier!"

And little did Mario know the truth was it wasn't. It was only going to get worse. But can this broken family stick together? Or will they fall apart?
