Meeting Sid the Kid

16 year old Elise
I have been getting pains in my stomach worse than I usually do. I thought it was normal for people to have them so I didn't bother telling my dad. Then one day at school the nurse had to check our weights I lost 5 pounds last year. I thought that was a good thing. Right? Wrong! It was followed by me throwing up after I ate lunch or dinner. I told my dad he scheduled an appointment.

What happened next would be the biggest shock. Kris and I were at hockey practice. I felt something in my throats and thought I had to throw up. I stopped in mid-skate and ran to the locker room. Kris was right behind me. I grab the towel out of my equipment bag and started coughing. I didn't look at the towel I just looked up at Kris and said "oh I thought I was going to throw us sorry if I scared you." Kris was frozen and didn't say a word he was in utter shock. I looked down to see that what he was staring at it was the towel with blood on it.

6:30pm the hospital visit
My dad decided after he saw the blood on the towel it was not worth waiting a week to go to the doctors for. He rushed me to the emergency room. The doctors took me to get checked. An hour later family and I got the news.
I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I would start going to the doctors weekly.

18 year old Elise
My dad told me he was letting one of his teammates stay with us in Pittsburgh. He said the boy was my age and his name was Sidney Crosby. I wasn't upset that Sidney was staying with us when he told me but, I just wish there was another girl in this house besides me.

Sidney was coming today he will be staying in the room next to me. When Sidney arrived Dad, Kris, Jensen, Tony, Chance, and I were all down stairs to great our new house member. He introduced himself to the boys then me last

Young Sid's POV
I just got to Mario's house and knocked on the door. I was a bit nervous to meet his family. Oh, who am I kidding I'm so scared I'm shaking right now! I hope they like me... *Door opens* Mario stood in front of me smiling "Hi Sid! Nice to see you are here. This is my oldest son Jensen, my twins Kristopher and Elise, my middle child Anthony, and my youngest boy Chance. I smiled and shook all there hands. I wonder where Mario's wife is at? I better not ask... I'll meet her eventually. Mario interrupted my thoughts when he said "Elise show him around the house and to his room."

Mario's daughter greatest Me with a warm smile and told me to follow her. She first showed me my room so I could lay my suitcases down. She then showed me around the house. It was a big house! "Oh Sidney----" I interrupted her "call me Sid" she smiled "Okay Sid, Any questions?" I shook my head no. She raised an eyebrow " I have to tell you something important. Our mom died of cancer 5 years ago. Do not bring it up or ask about my mother to my father or my siblings. If you want to know anything come to me. I'm not trying to be rude but it's just a touchy subject." I nodded my head not knowing what to say because surely sorry isn't enough.

Everyday I spent at the Lemieux and Letang house hold I found out when Mario isn't home Elise takes care of the kids. She cooks and cleans. She is basically like a mother to Tony and Chance. Mario is a great man though and a great father I noticed. Whenever he finds Elise struggling or over working he tells her that he can do it. Mario does all the yard and house work. He does all the shopping too. He told me "their only kids life is to short. I have to let them have fun sometimes." I see Elise goes to the doctors weekly which is unusually but I don't ask about it.

Kris and I became good friends both having a love for hockey. Kris is really funny too and he can take a joke. It's funny when Kris and Elise play hockey against each other. They always make bets like whoever loses has to draw on Mario's face when he is sleeping. Let's just say when Mario came home from practice he was a little upset when his teammates teased him about having "I miss Jagr" on his forehead.

After knowing Elise for a while now and becoming good friends she confessed to me she had stomach cancer. I was shocked Elise always smiled and is the sweetest person I know. A person like her doesn't deserve to go through that. She is the strongest woman I know.

Prom
When I went back to Cole Harbor Elise went with me. This seems silly I know! But I took her to prom. It was the best prom I ever went to. Elise and I danced and laughed the whole night. A while I go I told Elise these guy at my school would pick in me. Just so happens the guy thought Elise was pretty when she went up to get a drink he was flirting with her she saw me glaring at him. She then excused herself and said she would meet him back the in 5 minutes. "Sid who was that guy?" Elise questioned. I responded "That guy that is always rude to me." Elise frowned which the quickly turned into a smirk. Elise being... well Elise! Then walked back to the punch table got a cup of punch took a sip and spit it back in the cup. Then to top that off she dumped hot sauce in it. When the guy walked back over Elise gave him the punch which he expected. He took a big gulp out of it and yelled "HOT." Elise responded "Aw! Thank you! You're too kind! Elise then grabbed my hand and ran out of the prom. We both laughed until we got to my house.

Sadly when she had her prom she didn't take me. She took her best friend Brad. It would be a lie if I said I wasn't jealous. I felt so upset seeing another guy holding her so close to his chest that wasn't me. Even if they were just "best friends" that didn't change my feeling of jealousy. That's right I think I'm falling for my teammates daughter!
