Elise's POV

I decided to accept the job to play for the Penguins! And today was the first practice!

I walked down the halls with Jim Rutherford, Mike Sullivan, and my dad. Jim knocked on the locker room door and yelled in to make sure all the guys were dressed.

It's time! Time for them to meet their new teammate aka ME!

I walked in with all the men. Mike yelled "Listen up boys I would like to introduce you to someone---!"

A few of the guys whistled and Sid hit one of them upside the head.

My brother growled at them "Bryan, Brian, Tom, Justin, Scott, Beau, Conor, Ben, and Carl knock it off!

The boy the Sid hit upside the head spoke up "What she's hot Kris! What can I say!"

Kris got up and walked in front of him "Dumo(Brian Dumoliun)! Knock it off! That's my sister! You idiot!"

I yelled at Kris "Kristopher Allen Letang! Sit down!" He looked back at me than sat down.

Mike looked around the room sternly "May I continue!" All the boys nodded.

Mike sighed "As I was saying... We have a new player on the team---"

Mike's POV

Tom Kuhnhackl cut me off "That doesn't explain why she's here."

I looked at Tom "Maybe if you guys would stop interrupting me I'll explain!"

I was about to speak when Ben Lovejoy cut me off "Go on."

I shook my head in defeat "I give up! Mario you can tell them!"

Elise's POV

The boys were getting Mike so mad but I found it funny.

My dad spoke up "So we have a new addition to the team! Which explains why Elise is here! She is your new teammate! She will be treated with respect! Kris will probably enforce that rule so watch out! No one likes a mad Kris Letang! Don't understand estimate Elise! Now Elise if you would like to say anything."

I smiled "Hi guys! I'm Elise Letang! I was the Captain of Boston Pride the NWHL team for 9 years! I love the game and hope you except me as a new addiction to your team! Any questions?"

One of the boys that whistled called out "Are you single?!"

This time Geno got up "Dammit Beau! She not up for grabs!"

Beau spoke up "So she's taken?" Geno face palmed "Just be quiet! Gives me headache!"

I laughed "It's okay G! Just sit down."

Another guy spoke up "You know Geno?" Geno spoke up "Yes Shultzsy(Justin) she does!"

I nodded "Yeah I know Geno, Kris, Sid, Flower, and Pascal."

I spoke up "I also need to tell all of you something. It is very important!"

They all nodded most of them didn't know besides the boys I have know since they won the cup in 2009.

I sighed "I want you all to know I have a lot of health issues. I have stage 2 stomach cancer. So I'm sorry! I get sick a lot! I will miss some games or practices because of treatment! But I'll try my best to make it to everything!"

Pascal walked up to me and hugged me knowing I get emotional talking about it.

I smiled at him "Thank you Pascal!" He smiled "Anything for you!"

When we were done talking I turned to the rest of the guys "I also have to tell you. If I get a really bad concussion it might end my career or possibly kill me."

Most of their eyes widened. They all sat their in silence until Jim yelled "Okay boys take the ice and let Elise get dressed!"

~Time Skip To Practice~

A guy skated up to me "Hi I'm Trevor Daley! You can call me Trevor, Trev, Dales, or whatever."

I smiled "Nice to meet you Trevor! I'm Elise!"

He smiled "I play defense too so we will probably see each other a lot." I nodded "Yeah! That will be great!"

He smiled and said bye. He skated away and went over to some of the boys.

At the end of practice we split the team in half and played against each other. I was on Sid's team and Kris was on Geno's team.

Mike smiled "I like it Letang vs Letang!"

During the game I did pretty good blocking shots and even scoring a goal!

I blocked one of Kris' shots and chirped at him "How do you like them apples?! You always say your the best but guess who just blocked your shot?! That's right! I did!"

Most of the boys chuckled and Kris just shook his head.

The rest of the team scrimmage went by smoothly and so did the rest of the day.

~Time Skip~

Today was the first day that the NHL has released that I will be the first ever female athlete.

I was currently watching ESPN. I heard the man say "Okay well we got some news today that a woman named Elise Letang will be the first ever female athlete."

So it seemed to be going pretty smoothly. Right? Wrong!

The man shook his head "No way of this a good idea! She is playing with the best of the best! She isn't going to be as good as a male athlete! She's not strong enough! She isn't ready! The NHL isn't ready! If one of those boys hit her she will be in the hospital! This is a terrible decision! I mean come on! This is pathetic! She isn't good enough to be in the NHL! I'm sorry but it's the truth!"

Oh did I want to punch this guy in the face!

Then I heard someone behind me say "Prove them wrong. You are good enough!"

I turned and saw Vero my best friend behind me. Tears streamed down my eyes "No Vero they are right! I can't do this!"

She frowned "Yes you can!" I shook my head "No Vero! I can't! I'm too weak from the treatments! I don't feel like myself anymore! I think the fights soon over! I lost hope!"
