The Hardest Part Is Living

Catherine's POV

I ran into the house. I turned and saw Jensen yelling at Kris.

When they notice my presents they turned and faced me. Kris started to talk "Listen Catherine I'm---"

I cut him off "No! I heard every word you said! How dare you put the kids in a situation like that! But most importantly how you disrespected your sister! She ran Kris and I don't know where she went! She left the house and hopped in her truck! Do you know what?! When we had no one to watch Alex she canceled her plans and her appointments to watch him! Her appointments Kris! She is more concerned about him being by himself than her own health! She has given up so much for you and would give up her life for you but guess what you are not thankful for her! Remember that time when you had your stroke?"

He chocked out a "Yeah." I crossed my arms "Well guess who was the first person at the hospital?! It was Elise! Guess who was also the one that told the doctor if anything would happen and you would need a heart she would give you her's?! Guess what it was Elise! Luckily it was only a minor hole in your heart but she would of died for you if you needed her heart! But guess what?! You don't appreciate her! You try to push her out of your life when you get mad! She's not the one to blame for tearing your family apart when you can't even try to keep it together!"

I saw his eyes widened and tears run down his face. He knew I was right. No matter how hard I wanted to give him a hug and tell him it was okay I didn't.

I turned on my heels and walked up to Mario and told him I would take him to my house so they can sort the situation out. I went back outside to the boys and headed off.

When I was driving I heard Alex speak up "Momma why isn't papa in the car with us?"

I sighed "Alex papa and Elise were mad at each other so we are trying to get papa to apologize because he was wrong."

Alex frowned "Why papa mad at Aunt Elise?" I sighed "Papa just said something mean to Elise that he should not of."

Alex nodded "Like when I get mad at Estelle when she takes my toys?" I nodded "Yes like when you and Estelle fight."

Estelle was Marc-André and Veronique Fleury's daughter. Her and Alex constantly were together.

I sighed and shook my head at Kris' actions. He was going to be sleeping on the couch tonight. 

Elise's POV

I laid down next to the tree stump and watched the sun make the lake water sparkle.

I let tears roll down my eyes and I skipped a few rocks across the surface of the water.

I sighed "Where did I go wrong?! Please tell me! I have tried and tried to do everything right and help people but it just doesn't work!"

I threw my head back and groaned. I skipped another rock and kept letting my thoughts out.

I laughed sarcastically "Now how am I going to tell them I'm getting stationed in Saudi Arabia for 2 months?!"

I am honestly lucky I'm not stationed there for too long. I get all my medical treatments there luckily. I will also be back before hockey season starts.

I turned and got in my truck and drove to the one place I have not been to in years.

About a half an hour later I parked the truck on the gravel. I hopped out and kneeled in front of my mother's tombstone.

I shook my head and cried "Mom I shouldn't have woke up! Everything is a mess! I would have been better off dead! Kris hates me and I'm nothing but a hassle to the others!"

I leaned against the tomb "You know the easiest thing is dying the hardest thing is living. Living is full of pain and agony! But they say life after death is peaceful... so why did I choose to suffer?"

I laid there for hours. It eventually started to rain but I didn't move. I heard my phone ring and buzz several times but I never picked it up.

By now it was dark. But for some reason even though I was physically all alone I didn't feel alone. I felt safe like someone was watching out for me.

Jensen's POV 

We have searched all over for Elise and we couldn't find her. I decided to call Sid because maybe Elise would pick up her phone if it was him.

I quick pulled out my phone and dialed Sid's number. I heard a grumbled "Jensen it's 1 in the morning! What do you want?!"

I sighed "Elise and Kris had a nasty argument... Elise ran away and we can't find her. It had been about 6 hours and a half hours since we have seen her last."

I heard Sid speak up "I'm getting a flight out to Pittsburgh right now give me a minute."

I spoke up "Sid I need you to call her. If she picks up tell me where she is at."

He agreed and about a 5 minutes later he called me back. He sighed "She didn't answer or return my calls."

I slammed my fist down on the kitchen table which my dad and Kris were also sitting at.

Sidney spoke up "I'll see you soon." I sighed "Alright see you soon Sid."

I hung up and my dad spoke up "Any Luck?" I shook my head "Nope."

He started to cry "What if she's hurt?! What if my baby girl is hurt?! She is the closest thing I have left of your mother! I can't loose her!"

I sighed "Dad just get some sleep and I'll keep on looking for her."

My dad shook his head "No I'm not sleeping until we find her!"

I sighed "Dad we checked everywhere!" He frowned but then spoke up "What about you mother's grave? Or the lake? She always use to get there when she was upset."

My face lit up "Okay let's go!" I sighed "Kris stay here you might need to give her some space."

Elise's POV

My whole body shivered. I was cold but still didn't move off the ground. I saw truck car lights but I still didn't move.

I heard yelling but my body was numb. The world went blurry. I felt someone's arms wrap around me and yell "She's closing her eyes! No Elise! Keep them open for me!"

Mario's POV

Jensen was screaming and I yelled back "Bring her hear! Wrap her in the blankets. I'll take her truck back and you take your car."

He nodded and got I his car. He put Elise in the back of her truck with me. I checked her pulse and drove to the hospital.

Once we got in you could see how pale her skin was. Her lips were blue and her hair was freezing cold.

I yelled "Doctor! Doctor! Please! It's an emergency! Help!"

The nurse called doctors to take Elise into the back room that we couldn't follow back to.

Kris' POV

I did everything wrong. Now I get a phone call from Jensen saying Elise is in the hospital. No one is to blame besides me for this. If she dies I am the reason she is dead.
