Chapter 8:
I walked towards the large metal double doors. The doors seemed so far away through the mob of teenage girls. Paul was walking close with me and holding my hand. I found it hard to believe that I had never actually been in the middle of these mental mobs that follow the lads around. Paul looked at me as he gently pushed the girls out of the way. All around me girls were chanting things and insulting me. I felt a tear fall down my face. Niall and I had only been dating for about a week and I already had more hate than Danielle and Eleanor combined. Twitter trends were usually bad things about me cheating on Niall with Harry, Zayn, or even Louis. Poor Eleanor had to go through the task of constantly telling her followers that Louis never cheated on her.
Paul noticed my tear and pulled me closer. I wrapped my arms around him as he comforted me as we walked. “Sophie Rae, don’t you dare listen to a word they say.” I nodded my head. “I mean it.” He picked me up and carried me as I covered my ears so I didn’t have to hear the crowd yelling at me.
We walked through the doors and Paul set me down. Niall ran over to me and kissed my forehead. “I love you, princess.”
I smiled. “I know. I didn’t think they would ever be that bad.”
He winced. “The girls, who chant all of those awful things at you, aren’t our real fans. Our real fans are the ones who want us to be happy, no matter who we fancy.”
Alice walked over to me and sat down. “Why are you late? Where were you?” She asked, seeming very concerned.
“I went for a walk at the park and Zayn thought I was already at the arena with Paul. He told the other lads that I was and so that’s why you came down with them. When they got here and figured out that I wasn’t here Zayn called my cell phone and I told him where I was.”
I heard a deep and familiar British voice approaching behind him. “And then I sent Paul to fetch you from the park and take you home so that you could get ready. Now, I trust, you realize why I told you to get here early?”
“Yes, Simon.” I felt like a little school girl when I was talking to him.
“Fantastic.” He turned to Niall. “Where are the other lads?”
Niall shrugged. “I dunno. Louis and Harry are getting ready, I believe. Liam is talking to Danielle and watching her and the other dancers practice.”
Alice gasped, “They are practicing?!”
“Yeah…” Niall responded.
“Bloody hell! I will see you in a few minutes Soph!” She ran off onto the stage and found Danielle practicing with the two other dancers.
Niall continued, “And Zayn is probably warming up.”
“Excellent.” Simon said with a tone that almost sounded sarcastic. He looked at me. “You better get to costume and make up, love. You are going to be late.”
I nodded and ran off to my dressing room. I found Lisa steaming my dress and making sure it was ready for me to put on. I walked over to the dress, which was hanging on the wardrobe door, and took it off the hanger.
“Do you need help?” Lisa asked as she put the steamer away.
“Could you zipper it for me?” I asked after I walked around the room divider and slipped on the dress. This dress was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. It was more beautiful that it was earlier today. I stepped out from behind the divider and Lisa zipped it for me.
