(Lexi's POV)
It's taken a lot of time from my weekend, but I was able to get everything sorted out for my store. The grand reopening on Michigan Ave. is Friday. With that, I didn't have too much to do for the remainder of the week leading up to Friday.
That's why Sam practically begged me to come to the boys' game tonight. With nothing better to do, I agreed.
I've been avoiding the bar since Thursday when I went with Brody. It was incredibly stupid of me to show up there, it wasn't fair to Liam.
Brody's in London now, but he is coming back to Chicago in the beginning of October after Paris. We hit it off and I like him. We aren't official, but when he comes home, maybe we will be.
Brooklyn: we're here!
I grabbed my purse and closed the front door behind me, remembering to lock it.
Sam practically had to beg me to not wear heels and a dress to the game, claiming it's not proper attire for soccer games.
As much as I love wearing my wedges, I agreed.
With the help of Nick, I settled on a pair of skinny jeans, a black v-neck, a red flannel that I tied around my waist, and pearly white converse. This is more the style of my 9th grade self, but I rolled with it on behalf of my sister.
I got in the backseat of Nick's car, sitting next to a car seat package. I guess buying early is better than never.
Brooklyn's black leggings and grey hoodie took me for a loop. I haven't seen her wear an outfit so bland since she was 16 during exam week in high school.
The players had just finished getting announced as we took our seats in the top middle section of the bleachers that looked out onto the field.
At this distance, it was hard for me to focus because I could hardly see, even with my contacts in to improve my eyesight.
"Is that Lexi and Brooke?" We heard a cheerful voice exclaim from the bottom of the bleachers.
"Michelle! Marilyn!" Brooke practically screamed back. She stumbled to her feet and met Michelle and Marilyn halfway on the steps, embracing each of them in separate hugs.
I followed after Brooke and also hugged them both.
They were our neighbors all throughout childhood. Being neighbors and all, we all grew close. Being closest in age to Sam, Michelle and Sam were practically inseparable all their lives. Although, when Sam went to University of Chicago on a full ride soccer scholarship and Michelle went to Ohio University, they grew apart a bit. Michelle had just moved back to Chicago with her boyfriend a few weeks ago, but this is the first time we've seen her given we've been out of town. Sam has told me she's seen a lot of her while we were gone though.
Marilyn lives in Ohio, too, with her boyfriend; she only moved there 2 years ago, right after Brooke and Nick's wedding. Her and Brooklyn had always been inseparable, even more so than Sam and Michelle were - Marilyn was even Brooke's maid of honor. Naturally, when she gave Brooke the news of her move for work purposes, Brooke was heartbroken having to watch her best friend move away after two decades worth of friendship.
Nonetheless, we were all still friends back in the day and it was nice to reunite after so long.
Brooklyn pulled them back up the steps and insisted they sit next to us.
