(Liam's POV)
"Liam, Lexi is here," Wes informed me as he poked his head into the back room. I glanced at the clock, and, just as I had suspected, it was nearly closing time. Meaning, it was nearly two in the morning.
I stood up and went back to my spot behind the bar. Sure enough, Ali was sitting in her usual spot with a Starbucks coffee in hand and another one sitting in front of her.
Obviously we don't usually allow drinks from outside of the bar, but she was always an exception.
"Why are you drinking coffee at 1:30 in the morning?" I rose my eyebrow. Her gaze shot away from whatever it is she was staring at and gave me a sheepish smile. "More importantly, why are you here at 1:30 in the morning?"
"Well, Sam decided to spend the night over at Alex's, and since you work at work, I decided to get some work done myself. And I did. Then, I tried to go to bed about an hour ago and I didn't want to sleep, nor did I want to sleep alone."
My lips tugged upward into a grin that I couldn't control even if I wanted to.
"So the coffee?"
"Craving?" She shrugged. "I got you one, too." At least she wasn't planning on drinking two veinte coffees herself. "We can stay up together now."
Though I probably should go to sleep because of how fucked up I can get if I don't get the right amount of sleep, I swigged some of the coffee down my throat anyway.
"Yay!"
The sound of a costumer walking in distracted me from beautiful girlfriend, the costumer happened to be Michelle.
What the hell?
"Michelle!" Ali exclaimed.
As Ali wrapped her up in a welcoming hug, she shot me a nervous look that Ali couldn't see.
When they pulled apart, Ali insisted Michelle sit next to her, right in front of where I was standing.
"Michelle, you remember Liam, right?"
"Yeah," she confirmed. "I, uh, just came by to see if I left my charm bracelet here." I read right through her statement; I knew she wasn't actually looking for her bracelet, she just needed a cover for showing up here without any intentions to drink. It'd be suspicious.
"Nothing in the lost in found." I informed her after only briefly shifting through the box.
"Huh, okay! Thanks, anyway. Bye, Lexi, I'll catch you later!" With that, Michelle made a beeline for the door.
"She's been here before?"
I shrugged, "Apparently. Lots of people come and go, I hardly remember anyone."
Just as I was hoping, Ali thought nothing of it. The subject was dropped and within a half an hour, we were closing up the bar.
"You coming home tonight, man?" Taylor asked as he shrugged on his jacket and pulled his keys from his pocket.
I glance over at Ali who was smiling hopefully, "Nah, staying with Ali."
"Alright, I'm headed out." With an exchange of goodbyes, Taylor left and Ali and I were hot on his trails.
"Let's take my car, I want to take you somewhere," I insisted. Ali didn't argue as she got in the passenger seat of my car and left her car parked here.
Normally I wouldn't want her to leave her expensive 2017 Ford Escape here, but Artie mentioned that he was staying to take care of some bills, so the car was safe there for the time being.
