(Lexi's POV)
I bit back my smile as I ran a brush through my hair that I straightened last night while I watched Liam continue to sleep soundly in my bed behind me through the reflection in the mirror. The covers were only covering his lower half, leaving his whole bare chest exposed to the chilly room. I don't know how he's not cold.
We got back together a little over a month ago, meaning it's been a little over a month since the trafficking ordeal. I continue to have my fair shares of nightmares as my imagination got the best of me and wondered what would happen if Liam hadn't shown up when he did. More often than not, Liam is always there when I wake up in near tears and a shaking form.
Throughout this past month, Liam and I have gotten much more serious. We spend most nights together, either at my house or his, he attends my family dinners every Sunday, and most importantly: we respect each other's work schedules.
I've come to understand on a whole new level how important it is that Liam sticks to working at least 10 hours a day, 6 days a week. He uses Sunday as his day to take on less hours to join me at my family dinners.
It's not ideal, only seeing Liam a couple hours a day, but I don't mind it. I understand that he still has to make a living and continue to live his life.
He's really started to hit it off with my brothers, moreover Zach, since Joey and Sophie still haven't been able to come to the dinners because of Sophie's due date being only 2 weeks away. Though, we've had a few family FaceTimes and phone calls with Joey that Liam joined in on.
Sam and Liam have grown a friendship over the past month, too. She always tells me how glad she is I met a good guy that truly loves me so much. I'm glad, too; I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
Brooklyn has also gotten to know Liam better this past month after she forgave him for the large misunderstanding that broke him and I apart to begin with. It's quite amusing that when Nick and Brooklyn come over and Liam is here, Brooklyn and Liam bicker as if they are siblings. Much like how I used to argue with Joey nonstop when we were younger.
Nick acclaimed his newfound friendship with Liam, and Taylor, after complaining about how he is constantly overrun by girls. He actually went out to Dooley's one night and bought drinks while he chatted it up with Liam and Taylor.
It meant that world to me that my family loved and accepted Liam for who he is, regardless of where he may come from.
All my life, I imagined marrying a rich doctor or fellow fashion designer, but all of those ideas diminished the day Liam saved me from what could've been my last day in this town. Who knows what Gray Eyes had in store for me that night Liam saved me. My superman.
The stirring from behind me caused me to turn around in my chair to get a look at Liam. He stretched his hands through the air and yawned excessively louder than necessary. Always the one to be overdramatic.
My eyes shamelessly traveled down to his bare chest as his abs stretched along with the rest of his body.
"Done staring, beautiful?" His voice was groggy and teasing.
I shook my head, no, as I stood up and climbed on top of him.
"Happy birthday, Ali," he murmured against my lips. His hands traveled under my shirt and he placed one hand on the small of my back to push me closer to his body, though I'm sure it wasn't even possible.
He made a move to pull my shirt off, which was actually his that I actually took from my bedroom floor, but I stopped him and jumped off the bed all in one swift motion.
