You started earlier this morning, and as of now you were pleased to say It's Not The Fall, It's The Sudden Stop was almost finished. Because of this, you were fully engaged in what you were doing and didn't want to be distracted. (B/F) learned that when she came in to ask if she could order pizza and you told her to get out in a rather blunt way.

Since then you'd had no disturbances, not even the phone on the desk a foot away from the keyboard was distracting you. It had remained black screened and silent the whole day, much to your relief. You thought your parents would've called to ask how the game was coming along, they hadn't checked with you since last week.

As you were tweaking the character design for one of the beasts so its head didn't go through its shoulder, your phone buzzed and the screen lit up. You didn't even glance at it, just wanted to finish coding the beast before paying attention to what whoever wanted.

It took a bit more of your time then you were expecting, and by the time you were done, you forgot you got a text. You started playing your game again to check for errors and came across a chair prop inside the wall. Pausing the game, you went to change that.

Your phone buzzed once more, the screen lighting with a second text, and you picked it up. You held it in your hand until the coding was done and you could listen to whoever was trying to claim your attention.

MARK: Hey, I'm sorry about yesterday. Something happened and I needed to cancel.

MARK: Do you want to go on a date to make up for it?

You typed back a fast response and sent it before turning the attention directed to the phone back to the laptop screen. You weren't going to wait on Mark's response, not when you were this close to the finish.

YOU: Yes.

MARK: Awesome! Do you have any specific place you want to go to, or when?

You typed something back, something you couldn't remember once your eyes were switched back to the numbers and symbols in front of you.

YOU: You decide all that.

You kept working at the game as he thought about the plans for the date. He didn't take too long in thinking of something, as he thought you were waiting on his response even though you weren't.

MARK: Are you open Friday?

YOU: Yes.

MARK: You work a full day Friday, right? When do you get out of work?

You were thinking of the number 3 at the moment, something to do with the game, so you put that number in the text.

YOU: Three.

And that was it, you just finished the game. You let out a loud whoop at this, startling (B/F) in the kitchen, causing her to get the drink in her hand all over herself. She just sighed, knowing it must have something to do with the game so she didn't bother coming up.

Whether you were uptight or not, that took a long time to finish, and now you were done. You could've danced around the room, but instead you went for your phone to tell Mark the good news. He was half done with a long text when you interrupted him.

YOU: Mark! I finished INTF!

A second later your phone started buzzing constantly and the words Call From Mark appeared on the screen along with two buttons to answer or ignore. You clicked the answer button and put the phone to your ear.

"Congratulations (Y/N)!" He shouted, making you smile.

"Thank you," you couldn't stop yourself from gushing. Even if success was common in your family, finishing a big project was always worthy of celebration.

"What's your plan now? You must have one." His tone was teasing. He knew you well enough to know you always had a plan, and this was no exception.

"I'm going to copy the games onto discs for each platformーPC, Xbox, and PlayStationーand give them to Cosette, James, (B/F), my boss, and whoever they want to give it to. They'll be my playtesters and tell me if anything's wrong or if there's a bug I need to fix."

"I could be a playtester if you wanted," he offered.

"No, it's going to be a surprise for you."

He heaved out a breath. "That's right, you said that's what it was for me. Why just for me?"

"Because, if it's ok with you, I want you to be the first to play it once it gets published."

"I'd be honored!" You could tell he had a smile on his face. "Is it alright if I record myself playing it and-"

"Yes, you may."

"Awesome, thanks (Y/N)."

"It would give you something to do, until you finish it and need to swing by 5 Lives and find something else to play."

"Yeah, unless I get a suggestion."

"The game might be at 5 Lives."

"Are you trying to get me to come over there to visit you while you work?" He asked, highly suspicious but in a teasing way.

"Possibly." What was in your drink this morning? You weren't flirty, not remotely. Maybe you were high off the accomplishment of finishing INTF still.

Mark laughed. "So that brings us back to our date on Friday. Does rock climbing sound good?"

"Yes." You wouldn't care if he suggested going to an oily fast food restaurant with a 1 star rating out of 5, you were too pumped to care.

"So I'll pick you up at 3 p.m. at 5 Lives?"

"Sounds good." You were already working on transferring the data to the discs so you weren't paying too much attention to his words.

"Alright, see you then (Y/N)!" His cheery voice bid you adieu.

"Bye Mark," you replied, pulling the phone from your ear to end the call. Holding a disc in your hand, you ran down the stairs to give it to (B/F). She raised a questioning eyebrow until you explained.

"My game's done." It took a moment for the news to sink in, but when it did she threw her hands up in the air.

"Wohoo!" She screamed, jumping around. "What's the disc for?" She asked, a smile still on her face as she hopped in place.

"For you to play the game. I need you to pay attention and look for errors in the codes so I can fix them. Have fun, but make sure you don't just fly through it and forget your goal."

"Will do." She nodded. You nodded back and went back up to the office to make more discs so the others could test your game as well.
