"Shayne!" You shouted into the house. There was no response for a little bit, but then your hardly awake brother stumbled into the room.
"What?" He grumbled out.
"It's 12 o'clock, how are you not up yet?" You glowered at him.
"I sleep in later than you," he let out a large yawn after his words.
"When you needed my car you were up before me," you crossed your arms.
"That's because I needed something."
"What exactly?"
"None of your business."
"If you're living in my house, you obey my rules. If it is anything that mom wouldn't approve of you having then it can't be in here either."
"I thought you were trying to become a different person," he mumbled.
"What did you buy?" You demanded. He said something incoherent and you asked him to repeat himself.
"A bunch of pixie sticks," he shouted. You blinked, anticipating something much worse.
"What's in the pixie sticks?"
"Sugar! I'm not doing anything you'd be ashamed of (Y/N)," he stomped out of the room.
"Mark and I are dating by the way!" You shouted after him. He stopped short.
"Wait, really?"
"Yes."
"Awesome." Then he was gone. You stared after him before brushing it off and going back to reading a book in your hands. Not an hour later you heard your car pull into the garage and the garage door shut. (B/F) came inside with a box in her hands, and she was headed for her room when you told her the news you told Shayne.
"I knew," she smiled.
"How?" Shayne couldn't have told her, you didn't, did Mark have her contact information?
"Mark brought you inside after you fell asleep yesterday, so I had a feeling you two made it official."
"What's in the box?" You eyed the item in her hands. She just shrugged and walked off. You made to follow her but then the doorbell rang, stopping you in your tracks so you could pay attention to whoever came by. Swinging the door open, you came face to face with Mark.
"Hi (Y/N)!" He greeted, a bright smile on his face.
"What's brought you here today?" You stepped back to allow him to enter, and as he came inside he held something in front of you. "Chocolate?"
"For my beautiful girlfriend."
"Thanks," you took it from him after sending him a half-smile. "But you're going to have to eat some of it."
"They're yours," he shook his head. Shayne came into the room to see what was going on and smirked.
"What are you doing here?" He asked as nicely as he could.
"Just came to stop by and say hi," Mark answered.
"You should stick around. (Y/N)'s making supper tonight and she can cook much better than (B/F)," he made a face at the idea of your friend's cooking. You didn't remember being told you had to cook tonight, so you were raising a finger to point that out when Mark butted in.
"If you'll have me," he glanced over at you.
"Of course!" You replied. You didn't think cooking supper tonight was necessarily a bad thing.
"I'll leave you two to it," Shayne pointed at the two of you then spun and exited.
"Who was that?" Mark asked you.
"My brother, Shayne. He needed a place to stay so I let him stay here." You led the both of you into the living room, where you spotted your mystery book you'd been trying to finish. It had many smaller mystery stories inside of it, and although you never tended to guess who the murderer was or what poison the killer used, it was fun nonetheless. Mark located the same book you did as you went for it.
"I'm almost done with this, I only have a few mysteries left to solve. Do you wanna help me with these or do something else?" You faced him with the book now in your hand.
"I love a good mystery book," he settled on the couch and you followed suit, opening it up to the next case to solve.

You'd read all the rest of the mysteries, but because neither of you wanted to move from the comfort of the couch, you went back to older cases you'd already read. After getting to the point where the murderer is about to be revealed and the reader gets a chance to guess who it is, you turned to your boyfriend.
"Who do you think it is?"
"The baker!" He exclaimed. You smiled, knowing he was right, and picked up a chocolate to give to him. You finished the short story up as he swallowed his chocolate."You're good at these," you complimented, setting the book on an end table.
"Thanks," he smiled. You set your book aside and turned back to him, seeing his beautiful brown eyes already on you. You didn't realize you were leaning in until you saw him doing the same. Your eyes slipped closed just as your lips met. He pulled you closer and a hand ran down your back as his other cupped your cheek sweetly. You didn't quite know what to do with your hands, so you placed them on his chest, feeling his abs through his shirt. The kiss was slow and perfect, and though you didn't know if you were doing it right, it felt like heaven. His soft pink lips placed tenderly over your own made you have the illusion sparklers were going off inside of you, and you didn't want the feeling to end.
When you pulled away, needing to breathe, you tried to smile through your gasps. "That was my first kiss. How did I do?" You felt the need to ask. He kissed you again as an excuse not to answer, though you weren't sure if that was a good thing or not.
"You were just fine," he assured you as he pulled away. You smiled a little. He pulled you into his warm and comforting arms, and you snuggled into him as you thought about what just happened. A smile, a genuine full smile, rested on your face as you ran your tongue over your lips. It had calmed down, but the sensation of fireworks going off was still there.
"I'm gonna getcha back for that haunted house thing, you know that right?" Mark's low voice rumbled.
"That's fine, just make sure to do a good job of it, otherwise I might know it's you and not react the way you want me to," you said. He ran a hand through your hair and your eyes fell shut, enjoying the feeling. You didn't know how long he was doing that before he stopped. One of your eyes popped open as you looked up at him.
"Mark?" There was no response. He must be asleep. So you let him sleep, not moving from your position in case you awakened him. As time went on, you found yourself following in his footsteps. Then you went out like a light.
