S.O.T.D THUNDER CLATTER BY WILD CUB (GAWD THIS IS MY TRACK!)
~
I couldn't speak, I couldn't move. All I did was stare. Stare into the deep brown eyes that stood before me, in utter shock and confusion. Was I missing something?
"I know you're in love with my best friend"
I sat rigid as he said the words again and held my breath.
"Don't think I haven't seen the way you look at him" he sighed and gave me a small smile, "It's okay"
"No it isn't. I used you" I spoke slowly.
"Yeah, I could've done without that but...I mean...I guess what I'm trying to say is, I forgive you" he said it like a question as he regarded me.
"Why would you ever even waste your time on me anyways?"
"Don't do that" he snapped giving me a hard look, "Don't sell yourself short because you screwed up. Even knowing what I do now, I don't think it was a waste of time to have...to like you. I still think you're incredible "
"Oh my gosh, you're psycho" I turned away from him and stared at the wall, "I don't understand you"
"Harper, I'm not going to hold this against you. Andrew probably will because that's what he does, He tries to find that one reason to push someone he may potentially care about, away. Me? I let petty things go" Ethan's voice was full of reasoning but I refused to budge.
"This isn't petty....and He doesn't care about me" I grunted.
"In the grand scheme of things? Yeah, this is petty. Especially when I've already told you countless times that it's okay. In an hour I'll probably forget this entire conversation" he paused, "Trust me, he does. I know that kid like the back of my hand"
We sat in silence for a few minutes before he spoke again, "I have a question"
"Shoot"
"Are we friends?" His question caught me off guard and I stared at him confused. With all the things we had been through up to this point, I was sure we were almost like a family.
"What kind of a question is that? Of course we are" I looked at him like he was crazy and he shook his head at me.
"Well you haven't been acting like it...a friend would've told their friend"
"I know I screwed up and~"
"No, this isn't about that. I'm talking about the fact that you didn't think you could trust me with something like a crush you may have developed. I think that's the part that kind of sucks the most; my friendship integrity was compromised" he let out a small grin and nudged me, "if we really are friends then...well, I want to know. We aren't acquaintances anymore"
"I promise to treat you more like a friend than an acquaintance"
"Good" he clapped his hands together and nodded, "Go ahead"
"Go ahead, what?"
"I wanna know everything. From the moment you realized you liked him, to the formation of this little plan and last night....my mom always used to make me talk about things when I was younger. Maybe that's why I'm so open now but I assure you, it works. You don't feel like a corked bottle of wine all the time; you feel free" he sighed when I shook my head, "as your FRIEND I'm asking you to tell me what's going on"
I heaved a sigh and looked away from him, "You really wanna hear all this?"
"I wouldn't have asked if I didn't mean it"
