S.O.T.D: SHOT AT THE NIGHT BY THE KILLERS (AWESOME SONG)
"What happened?" The sudden voice jolted me up and I eyed the intruder.
"Ethan, I'm not in the mood" I sighed wiping at the dry tears, imaging how distraught I looked.
"Harper" he sighed gently sitting next to me, "Please give him a break"
"Huh?" My neck snapped to look at him and I quickly looked away after noticing the sad look in his eyes.
"Drew, he has issues and secrets~"
"So that makes it okay?" I asked incredulous. How could he sit here and defend him?
"I know it doesn't make it okay but sometimes he does things without thinking. He even told me that he didn't mean anything by it" Ethan put a reassuring hand on my shoulder and I burst into a fresh wave of tears. Just imagining them all talking about me and the kiss, and the lazy look on Andrew's face, killed me. He probably told them that I jumped him and they all probably made fun of the whole thing.
"Don't cry, he's sorry" Ethan layed his head on top of my mine as I cried.
"Why would he do it, then? Why do boys do things they don't mean?" I wailed into his chest. His arm tightened around me and he sighed
"I think you misunderstood me, Harvard" Ethan cleared his throat, "It's not that he didn't mean anything by it, he did, but it wasn't to hurt you. He just wanted to help, which is really crazy for him"
"Help? That's what he thought that was?" I yelled
"Well, yeah. I kind of agree with him"
"Oh my God, I'm a joke" I breathed shakily afraid to look up at him. I was such an idiot.
"Of course not! Harper, anyone would want to find out about their birth mom if they were in your position"
I snapped my head up, narrowly missing his nose, and stared at him confused, "What?"
"Andrew really just wanted you to give that Lesley woman a chance. I understand you didn't want his help but, Andrew's never been one for listening" He laughed lightly staring at me with his big eyes.
"You're talking about the meeting?"
"Well, yeah. What else would I be talking about?" I stared into his eyes and gave myself a mental punch. Of course he wasn't talking about the kiss! Andrew had specifically told me not to mention it and it really didn't make sense for him to do so, given the reaction on his face afterwards.
"Nothing...nothing" I sighed wiping at my face
"Sometimes Andrew can suck, trust me but he's a really good guy. Super soft and caring, you just have to work hard to find those elements" Ethan grinned at me and layed on his back
"Once in the tenth grade, Mark Rolofsky and his gang of hooligans decided to pick on me cuz I was the only guy who hadn't hit the 5'5 barrier" I smiled remembering Ethan before puberty had hit him like a ton of rocks and the captain of the football team.
"Andrew was all over them in seconds rearranging their faces while Chandler stood off to the side pretending he was actually doing something" Ethan laughed as I layed down next to him recalling Jerry telling me about the incident, "Afterwards, he gave me a sharpie and told me to sign their faces"
"Sign their faces?" I asked confused
"Yeah...they used to draw on my face. Mean stuff" I noticed his tone darken and felt my heart go out to him.
"You were bullied" I said more to myself and I felt him nod beside me.
"Yeah, but remember this was before I got all hot and stuff" his usual humorous tone was back and the moment passed.
