The next morning, I crawled out of bed and made my way over to my shower. I missed my regular morning routine of pretending to go for a run just so I could sit in my favorite coffee store, Java Gregg's and watch people from behind my cup. It was pretty interesting the kinds of things you'de see when people thought you weren't watching.

I threw on my favorite pair of Adida's running shorts and a matching red sweater. This way I actually looked like I had something better to do with my life than sit in a coffee place, stealing Wi-Fi.

I easily swiped my key's off the counter, as if I had never left and drove to the beanery. Once I got there, I grabbed my purse, keys, and phone, checking my instagram feed...stupid move.

"Harper?" My heart stopped as a familiar voice sounded from in front of me and I looked up to find Jerry. She wore a sea foam green athletic shirt and black TNA tights which, I knew for a fact, were just for show. C'mon, there's a reason we were best friends.

"Oh" Was all I said as her brown eyes raked over me.

"You look good...happy" She gave me a nervous smile.

"mmhhmm"

"There was this rumour that you ran away to Las Vegas...crazy, huh?" She grinned and I heaved a sigh.

"Don't make small talk with me, Jerry. You have Tre, that's talk enough" I sneered and she looked as if I had just slapped her. Sidestepping her, I touched the cool door handle and puled it open.

"He broke up with me...The day after your parents called the search party for you" Her quiet voice found my ears and I stood frozen, "He never wanted me. I was just something he couldn't have and the moment he had me, he was done"

I couldn't speak.

"I never wanted to hurt you, rella" I grimaced as she used her nickname for me. When we were much younger we used to make up stories about how we were modern fairy tale princess', minus the rags and dust. I was Harperella because I looked divine in blue and she was Jerahontas because it simply sounded funny. We would laugh for hours on end until one of our moms bustled in, shushing us.

"I thought that he really cared about me and in the process, I hurt the person I cared the most about....I know I haven't always been the best of friends but I hope you know that you were always a sister to me. We would fight, make up, and fight again but it never felt wrong because I knew we would always come back together again"

I couldn't look back at her as I was almost 99% sure that there were tears in her brown eyes.

"I'm sorry Harper"

"See you around, Jerry" I muttered walking into Java Gregg's without a backwards glance.

I sat inside Java Gregg's with a medium coffee mulling over what Jerry had said. Was I supposed to be happy or angry that she just now realized that what she had done was horrible?

My phone vibrated, sending me out of my thoughts and I picked up without looking at the screen.

"He's in a mood" Ethan's deep voice murmured over the phone. He sounded like he was whispering and I rolled my eyes.

"Who, your cat?"

"You know who I'm talking about" he hissed flushing a toilet.

"Ew, are you calling me while using the bathroom? You've defied the sacred rule!" I shuddered and he laughed.
