Chapter Song is "Arms" by Christina Perri

Her hands trembled against the cold ground and her body quaked with spasms of pain. She spit out blood, cringing at the coppery taste it left in her mouth. Her cold, lifeless eyes darted up to the Ice Queen. The older woman stood over her with a sneer. "You see how she just falls to the ground? A real warrior would stand tall and fight! She's not a fighter, she's just a weakling!"

Jamie recoiled as if she slapped her, her words cutting into the weak blonde more than any blade could. The soldiers that stood around them all snickered, appreciating their Queen's harsh tactics.

"When I become commander the word Trimaneda will stand for more than coward!"

Jamie woke up drenched in sweat. Her chest heaved as she struggled for each breath. Her eyes shifted to Bellamy, studying him as his bare chest rose and fell and she tried to imitate the action. Her breathing quickened as it had every night before, even though she could sense a change in her irregular heartbeats when she was near Bellamy. She knew he helped her calm down, asleep or not, but she still hated plaguing him with her problems.

Light snores emitted from him as his body shifted towards her in his sleep. Her hand moved through his hair, lightly grasping the curls on the top of his head as her lips parted in a smile. She moved carefully to not wake him but he was still pulled from his sleep by her movements. "Angel?" He whispered, still half asleep, and arms reaching for her.

Her heartbeat quickened and she could feel her body tremor as her last breath escaped her. The haze in his eyes seemed to clear as he noticed her panicked expression and he pulled himself into a sitting position to get closer to her.

"Jamie?" His arms circled around her and pulled her into him in an attempt to calm her down. "Hey, what's wrong?"

She inhaled sharply, shaking her head to rid the images that would drive her mad, body still on the edge of panic. She pressed her nose into the crook of his neck and the rush of scents that flooded her helped stop her rapid breaths and she was finally able to breathe.

His lips parted slightly as he leaned closer to her. "It was just a dream. It wasn't real." He shook his head and gently brushed his thumb over her cheek but she pulled back to look at him.

"That's the problem." She let out a shaky breath. "It was real."

Understanding flickered in his gaze. "What happened?"

She stroked the hand that rested against her cheek. "Nothing that matters now."

A week had passed since Jamie fought her way back to Arkadia. In the past week she'd managed to get roughly twelve hours of sleep. Her exhaustion was starting to weigh her down again as it had when she first returned home.

Every night since she'd returned had been spent in the same fashion. She'd go to bed with Bellamy, unable to go to sleep for a few hours. She would finally go to sleep only to awaken with nightmares an hour or so after. They would go to their spot on top of the Ark, Haihefa perched on the hard ground bellow them, and watch the calm night around them.

Bellamy hated that she wasn't sleeping but he couldn't say he hated watching every sunrise with her by his side. He slept every night with his arms wrapped tightly around her, monitoring every single noise that might be something to come and take her away from him again. "Do you want to try going back to sleep?"
