"How'd this even happen?"

Bellamy glanced over his shoulder at Pike with an arched brow. "What do you mean?"

They continued walking through fields of weeds and tall grass as Pike gestured to the panthers and the white beta.

Bellamy smirked and returned his attention to the path that lie ahead of them. "It was Jamie." He paused before shaking his head. "It was all Jamie."

Pike watched him carefully before picking up his pace to walk beside Bellamy. "Want to talk about it?"

"Nope." Bellamy's answer was short as he gripped his gun tighter and his eyes narrowed.

Pike nodded in understanding before asking, "ask you a question?"

When Bellamy didn't reply, Pike continued. "Last report we got on the Ark, you were under attack by grounders. What changed?"

"Turns out we had a common enemy."

Pike felt like he knew what was coming but still had to ask. "What happened to them?"

Monty's pace slowed, allowing Bellamy and Pike to catch up to him for a brief second. Bellamy watched him in concern as he quietly replied to Pike. "We won."

Indra stopped at the front of the group and held up a hand in caution. "Quiet. Listen."

Kane looked around and his eyes met hers. "War drums."

"Azgeda." Indra grumbled with a scowl.

Monty shifted closer to Bellamy, hand tightening on his gun similarly to Bellamy had earlier. "You can tell its Ice Nation from the sound?"

"No." She gestured to two dead bodies in the weeds before them. "From them."

Pike stepped forward, closer to the bodies. "We need to get those bodies off the field unless you're good with them thinking we did this."

"Go, hurry." Kane agreed.

Bellamy's eyes scanned the fields around them and he held up a hand to stop Pike. "Wait, two people at twelve o'clock." He raised his rifle and looked through the scope. His heart hammered in his chest as he studied the blonde hair. "It's Clarke." He ran forward only to be pulled back by Pike. "Woah, woah, hey!"

"Get out of my way!" Bellamy tried pushing his way around Pike but he held his position.

"You'll never make it in time."

Monty stepped forward with a neutral expression. "He's right, look." He pointed to the Ice Nation soldiers marching towards them. "No way we get across without being seen."

Bellamy could see the defeat on Monty's face, knowing the younger boy wanted to chase after Clarke too. His dark eyes flickered upwards, he nodded towards a cave hidden off the path, curls bouncing with the movement. "Guys, there's a cave."

"We should lay low, let the army pass, then we find Clarke." Pike turned towards the cave as he spoke but Bellamy's wide eyes remained focused on Clarke. "We just got lucky." Pike tried again, nodding towards the cave. He watched Bellamy's eyes narrow and his body shift towards Clarke.

Pike leaned towards him and rested his hand on Bellamy's shoulder. "We'll get to her later. Come on."

Bellamy pulled his distraught gaze off Clarke and quickly moved to help hide the bodies.
