CHAPTER 8

*{NEXT DAY}*

CHARLEY'S POV

My alarm clock violently went off at six a.m., and I groaned, smacking it and turning it off with the hand closest to my bedside table.

I never liked getting up early for school. I enjoyed my sleep and was always irritated whenever I had to get out of bed.

I threw my legs over my bed and onto the soft tan carpet of my bedroom. My head felt a little dizzy at first from just waking up, and I began seeing stars for just a few short seconds until I finally regained my vision.

Then I groggily walked over to my closet and opened the door to it. I had a large walk-in closet that could fit about five people in it; but I didn't have that many clothes. I was never the kind of girl who needed, or even wanted, a large amount of clothes, which pleased my dad excessively.

I decided on a plain white t-shirt that had a cute little pocket where my left breast was. It was one of my favorites; especially because it was my mother's.

I sighed heavily in remembrance of her whilst slipping some light blue skinny jeans on. My style was a bit more 'casual' than the rest of the people at my school, which I didn't mind.

Afterwards, I got on my sky blue vans again from yesterday and took a look at myself in my dresser mirror. I decided to just leave my hair down in its natural wave, since a lot of people have said before that it's very pretty like that. I myself have always thought I was pretty; this is a trait I also inherited from my mother. Her beauty.

Being done with that, I grabbed my phone and backpack for school and headed down the stairs, not even bothering to make my bed since I never do that.

Once downstairs, I noticed that it was quiet and all of the lights were off; I was assuming my dad was still sleeping? Anyways, it didn't really matter. I just grabbed another protein bar as my breakfast on-the-go and my keys, and headed out the door to my small car.

Fortunately, the sun was shining very brightly today. Thank God. I smiled as I unlocked my car and stepped inside, closing the door behind me and setting my things gently on the passenger seat. I started the engine, and after it roared to life, I made my way to school.

"Pretty day out, isn't it?" Fletcher asked me as we were making our way through the parking lot and to the school.

I chuckled a little, remembering my conversation with Harry yesterday about how he thought it was pretty outside even though it was cloudy and nasty.

"Yes, it's very beautiful." I responded, glancing up at the sky.

We walked the rest of the way to the school in silence; it wasn't really an awkward silence, but more of a peaceful silence, which was nice.

Fletcher held the door open for me as I stepped inside the cool atmosphere of Chester High.

I thanked him and as we both made our way to our lockers, I noticed that the school was bustling with talking, laughter, and lots of young teenagers.

This was obviously usual for a popular high school like this one, but I guess I've just never seemed to get used to it.

Or notice it, for that matter.

I spotted Casey furiously shoving books and stacks of papers in her locker once we arrived at our lockers.

"Morning." I smiled up at Casey, twisting in the code for my locker.

She huffed and looked at me. "Hello."
