CHAPTER 6

It was all very strange to me, and I couldn't seem to understand it.

When I had first met Harry, he was a complete jerk to me. I didn't want anything to do with him then.

But later at lunch in the lunch line, he was super sweet to me and actually apologized for what he did this morning. That really took me off guard, but I must say, it changed my look on him completely. It made me almost want to become actual friends with him.

Until the whole eyes thing. That was confusing in itself, but the whole situation was made even more confusing when Harry suddenly got panicky and left me awkwardly standing there, watching him go. I don't think he would ever give me an answer as to why he did that or where he did go. Even if we did get to 'know each other'.

What the strangest part was, however, was the fact that he actually came back. I didn't see that one coming. Wherever he went obviously didn't hold his attention for too long, so he came back, to class.

And not only to Ms. Fisher's class, but my seventh period History class as well. Looks like we only had two periods together, then; the last two.

In both of those classes he was really clingy to me, making me laugh and being extremely playful.

Which I didn't mind. He was absolutely gorgeous.

But it was still all very strange to me.

The day soon slipped away from me and before I knew it, I was walking with Casey and Fletcher out to the school parking lot.

"So, you wanna Charley?" Casey glanced up at me with her blueish-grayish sparkling eyes.

I looked at her, utterly confused and yet again embarrassed that I hadn't been paying attention to the conversation. "Do I wanna what, sorry?"

Casey giggled. "Me and Fletcher were going to go get some ice-cream. Did you wanna come with us?"

I cleared my throat and shook my head. "That's really sweet of you guys, but I can't. I have to go to work now."

She nodded in understandment.

As we approached my car, I gave them each a hug goodbye. "I guess I'll see you guys tomorrow, then."

Casey smiled at me and Fletcher gave me a thumbs up. After that, they were both gone.

I unlocked my car door and threw my bag onto the passenger seat. Then I climbed inside, shut the door behind me, and started up the engine.

The car ride to work from school wasn't that long; seven minutes only.

I worked at my Uncle Hendric's comic book shop, called, 'Comic Craze'. I sometimes get teased for telling people I work there, of all places, since they expect me to work somewhere like a clothing shop or a candy store. A normal teenage girl's job. But honestly, I like working there. I get paid good money and I get along really well with all my co-workers.

As I got closer to the small building that Comic Craze was in, I noticed it started raining again. It had stopped earlier when we were leaving the school, but now it began to pick up.

I sighed heavily and turned my windshield wipers on. I never liked rain, and I definitely didn't want to deal with it today.

Finally, I pulled into the parking lot. That was a relief. I decided to park in the front, even though that was specifically saved for the customers, only to avoid the now-heavy rainfall. I knew my uncle would probably get on to me for it, but at least I wouldn't be a soaking mess.

I turned off the engine and grabbed my work clothes from the center console. I always kept them in there so I could change into them when I arrived at the comic store.

I opened the car door and ran into the shop, managing only a few drops of rain on myself.

A wonderful feeling.

"Charley, hey hey!" Uncle Hendric walked out from behind a large shelf of comic books. He could probably hear me walk in as the door had a bell at the top.

"Hey Uncle Hendric." I shot him a small smile, making him become even more excited.

His eyes then trailed to the outside of the shop, where my car was.

Here we go.

"Charley, baby girl, why do you park in the front, eh?" He had a heavy French accent, since my whole family was French.

I rolled my eyes. "I don't like the rain, you know that."

He just shrugged, surprising me. "Alright, alright. I'll let it go for today only because we've had just a few customers."

I smiled a bigger smile. Uncle Hendric was such a nice person. "Thank you."

His cheeks became red a little as he held one hand up. "You're welcome. Now go get changed so you'll be ready in case we do end up getting customers, yeah?"

I nodded and strolled past him to the bathrooms in the back, placing a small kiss to his shiny bald head. He was a few inches shorter than me, making it easy for me to do that.

I walked into the bathrooms and quickly changed my clothes. I put the clothes I had worn all day inside one of the drawers of the sink cabinet, ready for me for when work was over.

Then, I took a look at myself in the large mirror. I looked pretty good, even though some of my hair was frizzy. I applied cold water to it and pulled it into a side braid, since that seemed to be so much easier. I didn't even mess with my face; my makeup was still perfect from this morning.

After finally being satisfied with the way I looked, I walked out of the bathroom and into the vibrant store. I say vibrant because the many different colored comic books on the shelves made the store really pop with color.

I looked around for Uncle Hendric and, seeing he was busy with a customer at the front desk, decided to do a little roaming around until he was done.

My feet led me to the section of the store where the new releases are placed. My fingers scanned across the neat rows of comics on the top shelf as I looked for an interesting one that I might want to read in order to pass the time.

As I was about to pick one out that read, 'Superman Saves Again!' one of the comic books sitting on the shelf up ahead suddenly fell to the ground.

I looked at it completely stunned. How in the world did that happen? We always placed the comics at least three feet away from the edge of the shelf. So, how exactly did this one fall?

Curious, I walked over to it and picked it up. It was a comic that read, 'The Ghost and The Human'.

Hmm. Never remember putting this one away. Maybe Uncle Hendric did while I was gone at school or something.

I started to flip through the pages when I felt cold breath on my hair, as my head was pointed downward, looking at the comic book. It was probably Uncle Hendric or a co-worker or something trying to scare me or say hello.

Assuming that, I looked up in front of me and gasped, dropping my book. A very pale, transparent Harry was staring back at me, now fading away into the air around me.
