A baby. A baby was in a basket on our door step. Why the hell was a baby in a basket on our doorstep. Since Ashton was hiking Cassie and Michael was wide awake now I walked over and picked the baby up gently. After I got it to stop crying I found a note.
" Callie,
Please do me a favor and make sure Ashton gets out baby boy. I've heard rumors he was living with you guys. That's one of the many reasons I brought him to you. Yes he was born early but he's completely healthy. Please keep an eye on him for me. I'm not mother material but you are. Please make sure both my babies are happy and make sure Ashton finds someone. He deserves to be happy as well.
Love,
Jena.""What does it say?" Ashton said breaking the silence.
"It's from Jena. This is your baby boy Ashton." I saw a bit of joy and happiness in his eye but I also saw a little bit of sadness.
He just stood there staring at the baby. I couldn't tell what was going through his mind. Usually I could tell what he was thinking but this time I had absolutely no idea.
"How about we go inside huh?" Michael said putting his hand on Ashton's shoulder. Ashton shook the thoughts out of his head and nodded walking towards the door.
I carried the baby and it's basket as I walked inside with Michael, Ashton and Cassie behind me.
Ashton immediately took Cass to her bed. I stood in the living room rocking the baby a little and once he fell asleep I put him back in his basket.
"It's early." Ashton said breaking the silence as he walked back into the living room.
"He's ok though Ashton." I replied giving him a reassuring smile.
"But I'm not ready I don't have a bed or clothes. I had at least another month. Jena kept putting it all off. I have a crib at the house, but that's it." Ashton sat on the couch looking at his baby boy.
"Ashton, calm down ok? We will figure that all out. Right now just be excited you have a baby boy. A baby boy that needs named I might add." I spoke up handing Ashton a cup of coffee.
Ashton took a drink of his coffee and then set it on the table before picking up his baby boy.
"He's pretty amazing." Ashton said suddenly becoming awestruck by the fragile tiny human in his arms.
"What are you gonna name him?" Michael asked.
"Levi." Ashton said not hesitating at all.
"Levi Irwin. Perfect." I smiled and sat on Michael's lap watching.
Ashton was starting to relax while holding Levi but he was still stiff afraid he was going to break him.
"He's quiet." Michael said quietly while laughing lightly.
"Very." Ashton replied returning the laughter.
"He's cute to." I spoke up snuggling into Michael becoming very tired.
"So what do we do with him for tonight?" Ashton asked looking over at me.
"Well it's two a.m. So I think the basket will do for tonight. In the morning we can go get the crib and go shopping for clothes and diapers." I replied grabbing a note book and pen off the table.
"Your sure that will be ok?" Ashton asked.
"Yes Ash I'm sure." I replied writing down everything we needed to look for starting tomorrow.
"Wait what happens if he gets hungry before morning?" Ashton said the worry starting to come back.
"We have some milk from when Cass was staying with us durning the day. So that will work." I replied giving him a reassuring smile. "It will be ok Ash I promise."
