Defeated. That's how Elisabeth felt at that moment. The little courage she'd gathered up from before had just vanished. The hope that maybe, just maybe if she spoke her thoughts Dexter would listen all dissolved instantly. The man was just too proud to admit his wrongs. Now he was even pointing the finger at her and Mark. She couldn't even mentally sustain the dispecable accusation that Dexter had just indirectly thrown at her.

'Have I ever on any grounds given you the smallest hint that I would like to share Mark's bed?' She asked looking at him for any sign of regret or apology. He gave away no emotion with his face.

'Why don't you tell me Beth? You seem to enjoy his calls and visits way too much. You become a free soul with him. I wouldn't be surprised if he's the one who's inspired you to suddenly show me this defiant side of you.' He answered her.

'This is who I am Dexter. I've tried my best to suppress this side of me but I don't think it's worth it anymore. You keep using my silence against me so now I'd rather be myself.' She answered with more confidence. He looked at her and gave a lazy arrogant smile.

'Elisabeth nevermind your new side, I'm still your husband until I say otherwise. I told you the contact will last for six months at least. Don't forget that. And also from now on I don't want you and Mark calling or visiting each other when I'm not there. Mark is my brother not yours so don't think just because you're my fake wife you fit into my real family as well. I'll discuss things with you later after you revise your manners.' He said and turned to walk away but stopped for a short time.

'And until further notice, don't go anywhere without letting me know. I've assigned six of my best men for your security. Ferdinand is one of them and they'll drive you every and anywhere. No buts or excuses.' He said strictly and with that strode out of the room leaving her to take in what he'd said. Although she thought six men was a bit too much, she didn't dare argue on the security issue because she knew first hand how seriously dangerous it was to go out without any security.

His words on her status on his family were like a bucket of ice on a cold morning. A wake up call. She wasn't his family and she would never be. Mark was a very nice friend to her but he too was a Venom. His friendship was only built on the lie that she was his brother's actual wife. Dexter had every right to stop her from taking to his brother if he willed. She had to remember her place in his life. That'd help her not to overstep her boundaries.

After some depressing thinking, Elisabeth called her friends Kiara and Prince. The true friends she knew were not conditional. No one could ban her from being their friend. She needed to see them soon to get her mind off her stressful life. Dexter was becoming more and more hard to deal with. He kept crushing her worn out heart at every chance that he got.

She kept her mind away from the meaning of his remark on her and Mark sharing the same bed. It burnt her being to know that Dexter had indirectly accused her of wanting to be adulterous. Although their marriage wasn't real to begin with,  adultery was a disgraceful thought that had never even crossed her mind.

The next morning she woke quite later than usual. It was already half past eleven when she woke. After taking a bath and tidying her room, she went downstairs. She headed straight for the kitchen and came across Clara who seemed to be on her way to the dining room.

'Good morning Mrs Venom. I was just about to remove your food from the table before it got cold.' She said respectfully. Elisabeth could only conclude on one thing based on her maid's formal behaviour. She smiled happily and Clara returned the gesture.

'Be patient child. Don't give up.' She whispered to Elisabeth and winked at her as they both went to the dining room.

Although they were not on friendly terms at the moment, the fact that her husband was still at home that late into morning gave her a chill of excitement.
