Beth got home and threw her purse and phone on the bed in her room. Dex followed in a few minutes after her. He leaned against the door and looked at her intensely as she picked out her nightwear.

'So that's it? I plan a dinner and you walk off for no reason.' Dex asked furiously.

'Yes, that's it. I didn't ask you to plan it, did I?'

'I was trying to be thoughtful. Most girls your age would swoon at such a gesture.' Dex said.

'Is that what Bianca would do? Don't compare me to your women Dex.'

'Bianca is not a girl, and she's not your age either. I told you I have stopped all contact with her so why is her name even coming up?'

'Everything about us has to do with her. I don't trust you anymore.' Beth said taking a pair of pyjamas from the closet.

'It was just a simple date night Beth. No need to bring up trust issues into it. You walked away from me because of Bianca who wasn't even there. I will not stand for such disrespect ever again.' Dex said with a frown.

'Bianca doesn't have to be here to cause problems. How do I know you were telling the truth about the pregnancy not being yours? How do I know for sure that you weren't lying that you don't have anything to do with her anymore? You lied about her before, what assures me that you're not lying about her now?'

'Trust me Beth if Bianca or any other woman but you was still in my life, I wouldn't be here right now. I am trying to make us work but you need to meet me halfway.' Dex said. Beth moved to the door at sttod facing him.

'Don't hold your breath Dex.' Beth said before shutting the door in Dex's face and locking it. Dex banged on the door many times and threatened to break it down, but Beth ignored him. She threw the pyjamas on the floor and lied on the bed in her dress.

Beth tried to run as fast as she could but it was of no help. Her stomach pains were killing her and the men behind her were not giving up. They were here not only for her this time, but for her child as well. She cried as she came to a dead end in the track she was running on. She was surrounded and had nowhere to run. Her hands held on protectively to her belly. Her pleas for mercy fell on deaf ears as the men looked at her with hatred. She turned to the one familiar face in the crowd silently begging to be saved. The man she once called her father seemed to consider it for a second but the sympathy vanished instantly when he was ordered by an anonymous cold voice to kill her. Beth wouldn't let them anywhere near her child. She screamed and asked for help as Duncan drew nearer and nearer with a ruthless look on his face. She needed Dex to help her save their child, but where was he?

She called for him and he was nowhere to be seen. Little by little her strength faded. Her reason to fight for life died away with the realisation that they were going to kill her unborn child. She would rather die herself than live to mourn the loss. Whispering Dex's name, she felt the last breath pass her lips and she gave up on hope as Duncan's gun aimed for her big and round belly.

'...wake up! Beth? Wake up .' Dex's voice was like a breath of life on Beth. She fluttered her eyes open instantly and remembered to breathe again. She grabbed onto Dex's pyjama shirt and hid her face. She'd had another of those terrrible nightmares that she'd been having for the past few days but had kept to herself. She sobbed quietly on Dex's shoulder. He remained quiet the whole time and let her cry it out.

'You shouldn't be here. Leave me alone.' Beth finally said in a mixture of what seemed to be embarrassment and anger.

'This is not the right time to continue with our argument. We can do that tomorrow. What were you dreaming about?' Dex asked gently brushing his hands up and down Beth's spine.
