"I'm so sorry you didn't make it. I got everybody I could to like your video." Said Kandi.
"Its okay." I mumbled. "Its not your fault." I repeated that same sentence the entire day, even if people hadn't said they were sorry. Alice even had to cover for me when I answered a math question like that. Everybody was sympathizing and I couldn't care less; I was going to leave no matter what people said.
My mom had caused a lot of chaos because of her stupid 'move Ava across the continent' plan. Vic hadn't come out of her room, not even for school. My friends all had fake smiles on their faces as they made jokes at my mom's expense. And everybody else at school finally noticed me as I walked around like a zombie.
I still talked, I wasn't going to go comatose again, but I felt like my purpose was unclear. I had plenty of people that would care if I died, but it still felt like I didn't.
"Hey zombie!" Nate slung his arm around my shoulders and started humming a cheerful tune. He seemed to be the only one (besides Shae) who wasn't effected by the news.
"Hey person who is way too happy to be around me."
"I just thought that in your situation there should be somebody who's spirits are high."
"Trust me, Shae's spirits are high enough for everyone." It was true, she hadn't stopped smiling since she posted that comment on our video.
"Yeah, why is she happy?"
"Nate, she hates me. Plus, I have a feeling she sabotaged the video plan."
"Well, I don't know about that. Just because you don't like her, you shouldn't go assuming..."
"I'm not assuming! She posted a comment on the YouTube video that pretty much confirmed it."
"Okay, okay. I'll look into it if it makes you happy."
"Yes! Yes! Thank you!"
"Wow. I'm glad I have the special ability to make you happy. I wonder how'd you'd feel if I said that there was a backup revenge plan included in that?"
"I love you." I hugged him so tight that I almost suffocated him, yet he had a dorky smile on the entire time.
"Alright, but don't forget, we still have to plan the grad ceremony this month. This is our last month of grade eight, and elementary school."
"Shut up. I'd gone almost five minutes without thinking about that."
"Oh, what a record." He muttered.
"It was a record for me."
"That's lame."
"Good. That's me. Now let's go play soccer so I can beat your butt and rub it in your face all day." I skipped all the way to the back field.
"Look at that, Ava's back to normal. What'd you do to her Nate, kiss her?" teased Luke. Nate fake-laughed.
"Come on guys, distracting your own player before a game." I shook my head. "He probably day-dreams about that yeah, but he couldn't pull it off if his life depended on it."
"Hey!" Nate said, offended.
"Ava's on our team!" called Tristan. All the boys agreed. "Go join the girl's team Natalia. It suits you."
"Cut it out guys." I had to stop them before they actually hurt Nate's feelings. Or maybe I felt like I was the only one who could make fun of him.
"Game time!" Lance shouted. Everyone ran for the ball and a brutal game started.
