"Stop! I don't have a weapon. I only came to talk. I want to join the careers."
Join the careers? Nobody from twelve has ever been in the careers. I took the ax off his throat and stood up as he put his hands in the air. Cato grabbed my arm and pulled me against his side.
"Why do you want in? Why shouldn't I just kill you right now." Cato asked.
Peeta laid on the ground not moving and still had his hands in the air. It was true. He had no weapon on him. So, why would Cato pull me away? Why does he care so much about me?
"Just kill him Cato!" Glimmer said.
"I can get you Katniss! I know what she is good at and where she most likely will be. I can help you?" Peeta pleaded.
"Don't you love her? Why would you want her dead?" I asked.
"She rejected me."
Sadness cross his face as I looked at Cato. He wanted to kill Katniss for besting him in training. I could see the greed in his eyes. Cato raised his sword and pointed it at Peeta.
"Tells how she got that eleven and I'll think about letting you live."
"Why would I tell you right now. You'll just kill me after you get what you want."
I stood up on my tiptoes, to whisper in Cato's ear. He looked down at me and nodded his head and but his sword away.
"Fine you can stay. But when you lead us to Katniss, I kill her." He said and walked away.

We stood outside the cornucopia as the anthem began to play. The symbol of the Capitol appeared in the sky then they started showing the deaths of the bloodbath. The first was the girl from three, my first kill. Next was Hector and then so on. The girl from eleven lasted the day. She didn't lie in her interview when she said she was hard to catch. The Capitol symbol appeared again then it ended. Eleven dead on the first day, thirteen more to go.
"District 3, stay here in guard the supplies. We'll be back in the morning. Work on you project. I went them working as soon as possible." Cato said and headed towards the woods.
We had spent most of the day unburying the mines on the platforms. The boy from three said he could get them armed again. Cato planned to stack all the supplies into a pyramid and put the mines around it, to tempt players into trying to steal only to be blown up. Not a very bad plan.
Before we stacked the supplies I hide a backpack in the cornucopia for when the pack splits. Hopefully I'll get a chance to use what is in it.
As we combed the woods looking for other tributes, I found myself in the back of the back next to Peeta. Cato was leading us and Glimmer hung around him, trying to get his attention. I smiled because she wasn't getting any.
"Sorry to hear that Katniss rejected you." I said to Peeta.
"It's fine. There's no way to be with her now. Only one person wins the games."
I nodded my head. I will have to kill him soon, or he kills me first. We walked a couple more hours when I heard a snap. None of the others heard it because they all continued to walk.
"Wait, listen. I heard something."
The snap sound again and it came from behind me. I turned, but again nobody else heard.
"Shut it District 4, you're just hearing things!" Glimmer snarled and began to walk just as a fire became visible between the trees. It was about twenty yards away.
"Fire!" I said pointing in that direction and smirked at Glimmer, who in turn glared at me as Cato threw his arm around my shoulder hooting.
We took off sprinting towards the fire. Once upon the fire that girl stirred awake and gasped. It was the girl from eight. She was on the platform next to me. She scrambled to her feet and began to slowly back away, fear was evident in her eyes.
"No! Please don't! Please! Please let me go!" She begged.
Cato handed me his sword as he stepped forward and pulled the machete from his back. The girl screeched as he plunged the weapon into her stomach. Blood bubbled out around the blade as she slumped to the ground and the rest began to hoot. I turned away as Cato pulled the machete out and saw that Peeta was not hooting too. He hates these games, just as much as I do.
"Let's good." Cato said taking his sword back and threw his arm around my shoulders again and lead me away.
We walked through the forest waiting for a cannon, that never came. She should be died. We stopped among a cluster of willow trees and Cato began an argument.
"She's dead. I struck her myself." He shouted.
"Then why hasn't the cannon sounded." Marvel shouted back.
"I'll go finish her." Peeta said.
"I'll go too." I said following Peeta.
I followed Peeta back to the campfire as Cato watched me go. Glimmer was trying to talk to him but, he wasn't paying any attention. He was watching me. She glared at me as I disappeared behind a tree.
