Another sting erupted down my left arm starting at the elbow and the pain spread throughout the whole arm.
Once at the lake I dived into the water and picked the stingers out of my cheek and elbow, to get to the one my elbow I had to take my coat off.
I resurfaced to get breath and pulled my dagger from my belt. My other weapons were back at the tree. Cato was already slashing with his sword and Peeta was heading back into the woods. Where is he going?
I slashed out with my dagger and took down one. I then left the lake to follow Peeta. He was running back down the path to the tree. He was probably going back to get his weapons, but then I noticed he was carrying his spear.
I slowed down as I neared the tree because Peeta was stopped and my vision started to blur. He was talking to Katniss she was holding Glimmer's bow and arrows. A cannon sounded, Glimmer was dead.
"Go! Run! What are you still doing here?" Peeta shouted and helped Katniss to her feet. "Go! Get out of here!"
Cato crashed through trees next to me with his sword drawn. Katniss took off and Cato swung at Peeta. Peeta was only in the careers to help Katniss, he lied to us.
Cato struck him in the leg as I stumbled into the clearing. Only two stings and I'm losing it. The world tilted sideways as Peeta took off. I got to my weapons and picked up the trident.
There was blood on the prongs. Blood? I never struck anyone with it. I dropped the trident because there was blood on my hands.
I looked up and Finnick was standing in front of me. Annie was next to him. She was looking at his face with tears streaming down her face. Finnick was bleeding from a wound in his chest. Three holes. The trident.
"Finnick!" I screeched and my vision went black.
~~~~~
I woke to Cato snoring in my ear. His arm was thrown across my waist and drool ran from his mouth. He was badly stung under his right eye because he never pulled the stinger out.
I sat up with a groan and pushed his arm off me. The rest were either sleeping or hallucinating. We were by the cornucopia, the boy from three was spreading leaves on Marvel's arm.
"What are you doing?" I croaked. My throat was so sore. I must have been screaming.
I watched Finnick die a hundred different ways. Annie standing by calling his name with tears streaming down her face.
"The leaves help draw the poison out of the stings. I already put them on you. Just have to get Cato. They didn't pulled their stingers out so it took longer." He said putting some leaves in his mouth.
I grabbed a backpack and took the water bottle out. Someone was missing. The boy from three said that Glimmer had died. I remembering hearing the cannon.
Once I was done drinking I began to pulled the stingers out of Cato's wounds. The one by his eye was the worst. Once I pulled the stinger a bunch of puss leaked out. I always hated puss. It made me sick to my stomach. If I had anything in my stomach, I would have thrown up.
"Here. Just chew the leaves in your mouth then spilt it on the wound. It will draw the prison out." The boy said handing me leaves.
I did as he instructed and put a glob under Cato's eye, arm, right hand, and leg. Once down I stood and stretched. I unwrapped the bandage on my shoulder and about lost it.
Puss was leaking from the wound and mixed with some blood. That's good. Puss means that it is healing.
I grabbed some bandages and went to the lake. I cleaned the wound then rewrapped it. Marvel appeared next to me carrying the makeshift fishing rods I made the one afternoon that I was on guard as the rest slept.
Once I caught four fish I carried them back to the cornucopia. The boy from three told me I was out for two days. Two days of watching Finnick die horrible deaths.
I laid the fish next to the fire as Clove woke up and walked to the lake. I pulled my jacket on and sat on a trunk staring into the woods.
I began to think of home. Think of the ocean and watching the ships leave the docks in the morning. Finnick would make me go outside if my dizziness wasn't bad. I missed being on the ships. I always liked watching the district disappear as the ships ventured farther out.
"What are you thinking about?"
Cato had woken up and was pushing himself off the ground. I threw a water at him that hit him in the chest.
"You never answered my question."
"Don't need to tell you."
I walked to the fire and began to place wood in to get the fire back. We were all hungry. Being out for two days. I looked back at the lake to see Clove and Marvel talking as arms snaked around my waist. Cato's lips attached themselves to my neck.
"Stop. We can't. Cato stop."
I said and stepped away from him and around the other side of the fire. I didn't want him to stop. Every time he touches me it feels like fire and it is exciting. I never felt that way before.
"Didn't I say that we were going to be happy our last few days."
"We can't. It's too hard. We both can't win. Why make us suffer?"
"Were not suffering!" He yelled.
"Cato how would you react if I was killed by those Tracker Jackers or fire? How would you react?"
"Don't say that! Don't!"
"See! We will suffer when one dies. Neither of us can afford to be that way."
I stooped to pick the fish up and the next thing I knew was that I was pushed over the trunk, that I was sitting on earlier. The breath was knocked out of me as a body fell on me.
