Darkness came pretty quick as Cato and I walked through the woods. We were both right the gamemakers are ending the games. As we walked I began to wonder why. Why end them so quick? These games hove to be a hit with the Capitol. Two groups of lovers fighting to the dead. Cato and I's forbidden love.
We walked onto the open field and the cornucopia sat across from us, shining in the glow from the full moon. There was no sign of Katniss or Peeta or Foxface all day. Cato sat and pulled a water bottle from his back as the anthem began to play. The only death today was Foxface. Peeta was still alive and now we'll have to kill him. I was hoping Peeta was dead, so I wouldn't have to kill him.
Once Cato stood a howling started in the woods followed by two screams. The howling and scream grew closer as the bushes began to shake and the stampeding of feet drew nearer.
"Come on. Get to the cornucopia." Cato said pushing me.
Once at the cornucopia he gave me a boost to climb up. The metal was burning hot and I gave a yelp but continued to climb. I pulled Cato up next to me as the howling broke into the clear. A huge back of dogs were chancing Katniss and Peeta to us.
"Cato hide."
We got into position as they began to climb. I grasped the trident to my chest and calmed my breathing. The howling up close seemed eerily human like. I took a deep breath as Katniss appeared at the top holding her bow. She turned to grabbed at Peeta when Cato picked her up and slammed her on her back.
I sprung from my hiding place and tackled her as she raised her bow. The shot went wide and Cato turned to get Peeta. Katniss swung her elbow back and it connected with my nose. I yelled in pain and rolled away onto my knees, blood streamed from my broken nose as her bow came around my neck and pushed into my throat.
I could not reach for my trident, for it was too far away. My fingers latched onto the ax in my belt as my vision began to blur and blood streamed down onto her bow. I raised the ax and swung behind me and i stuck into her leg. She screamed and fell back and I pitched forward rubbing my neck and grabbed my trident as her screams were cut off.
A body slammed into me and I shook them off and stood. Peeta laid on the ground blood pouring from his leg as he struggled to get up. I pointed the trident above his throat and place my foot on his chest. He sighed and laid still as Katniss began to scream again.
I turned to see Cato throw her off the side and the dogs howl in joy. Her screams stopped and the cannon sounded.
"Please. Please." Peeta began as I looked back down at him.
Tears streamed from his eyes as he looked a Cato. Blood and tears mixed as the dripped onto my hands as I pushed the trident into his throat. A scream escape me as I threw the trident off the side as Peeta's cannon sounded. He didn't deserve to be here or see his love die. I fell to my knees screaming as Cato wrapped his arms around me.
I never wanted to kill Peeta. But, now it is my turn to go.
