** Tali sighed and recomposed herself **
Francine had asked a lot of questions about my nemesis, the Grand Inquisitor. She obviously wanted to know all I had dreamed about. Also these four guards at the airport, I knew who had sent them, yet I had never seen them in my life. I knew that person was guarding me from the other side, but why have them appear now? Wasn't I now a vampire? Wasn't I capable of defending myself now? I would need to have a serious talk with him soon, that is if h
e wanted to answer.I was lost in my thoughts when we turned the corner and there, sitting at a café, was the source of all my nightmares, the Grand ass himself. My blood boiled instantly, I wanted to destroy him piece by piece. But once I told Francine, they didn't stop to let me do that, instead they took off so quick we were out of there in an instant.
"I wanted to rip him apart you know Fran" I said scolding her in a playful manner.,
"I know Dear, but not today. You are not strong enough yet and way too valuable to us to let you go at it unprepared."
I was pretty sure here that I would never be 'Ready' in her eyes, though I knew that she meant well. And, what did she mean by 'too valuable'.
We remained silent for what seemed to be about an hour, I was not too sure. Since becoming a vampire my sense of time had gotten a bit skewed. The only two times I was sure about were sunrise and sunset. We got out of Rome itself, and ended in a rural area.
We drove for another 30 minutes and then Fran made us stop at an Inn for the night. She made us do this, travelling the Italian countryside for a few days, it was beautiful. The last day, we drove for a few hours then all of a sudden, we turned on a dirt road.
As we went down the dirt road, I could feel we were being watched from outside the car. I could almost smell them, werewolves. I guess we were close to another base.
We drove for about two minutes in the forest and ended up at a gated mansion, similar to Francine's.
To answer my unspoken question she said "It's our main base of operation. You are lucky, not many people get to visit it and live."
This place was insane, armed guards, weres of all types everywhere and I was pretty sure that the stone gargoyles all over the placer were moving.
*They are hun*
Of course they were real. I was almost ready to see naked women riding unicorns at this point. I guess Francine was still reading my mind as she almost choked laughing.
We stopped in front of a huge mansion, and the guards from the other cars proceeded to exit out of them. I was nervous a bit, as it was still daylight outside.
"No worries Dear, we are not exiting here." Suddenly the car started going down into the ground.
"Underground facilities? Doesn't James Bond have a copyright on this stuff?" Francine smiled.
"I told you we were well organized. Vampires tend to be very patient and planning creatures, my love. Who just happen to have learned the power of compound interest a long time ago.
"True, it helps" I laughed. This was super cool though, the car went down a sort of elevator shaft and stopped after a few seconds into a very large bunker type area.
The place was square, about 5000 square feet. Several cars like ours were neatly parked on one side, with 2 private planes at the end, where another raising platform existed, probably to raise those same plane. On the opposite, there was a large training area for soldiers, with all sorts of stations, shooting, body-building, obstacle course, etc. Up in the air were various contraptions, similar to what Francine had in her training area, probably for weres so they could train that aspect of their combat.
