Evy POV
When I reached the office everybody was on their way to home but on other hand I was going to the office of the beast who asked me to report the progress. My palms were sweating cause I was scared if he didn't like the progress then he will yell at me like that day. I knocked his door asking permission to enter and he allowed me. When I closed the door my eyes travelled to the man who was standing near the window in a casual way with sleeves fold up till his elbow and few top button of the shirt open, his side view was mesmerising I was frozen at my spot and my face was flushed cause of the heat and my heart was thumping so fast as I have run a marathon and then he turned towards me as if he heard my heartbeat and gave me a genuine smile but remembering his words I sobered up to behave professionally.
Me: "Mr. Summers here is the progress report you asked for" while moving towards his desk. As I sad this I saw a flash of sadness on his face but it soon vanished as if it was never there.
Mr. Summers: "good, let me see it" after few minutes "you have done well Ms. Winters, but you missed this paper's analysis" and I was pale as if all the colour from my face has vanished due to fear cause now he is going to yell but before he could say anything.
Me: "I'm really sorry Mr. Summers it won't happen again, I promise" I was literally hyper with fear and started taking short breath as if my lungs were squeezed.
Mr. Summers: "Evaline look at me, please look at me. Take a long breath, in and out" he said while coming in front of me and taking my cold hands in his warm hands and rubbing them so that my hands become warm. I was shocked to see him behaving like this as if was in pain by seeing me in this condition and he saw my confusion.
"What happened to you? Why were you hyperventilating?"
Me: "I I I ... thought that you are going to yell at me for my mistake like that day and report it to Admond" I stuttered a little but made up enough guts to tell him the truth.
Mr. Summers: "I was not going to yell at you and" he paused for a second or two and pinched his temple but soon said "I'm sorry Evaline for that day, I really am. Please forgive for my rude behaviour" guilt and sorrow both can be seen in his eyes and his words were coming from heart it was clearly written on his face that how much he is apologetic for his rudeness.
I was numb as nothing was feeling real cause was he the same man who tortured me with his comments for almost a week and now seeing this side of him had me confused yet moved at the same time. He was behaving with me so gentle as if I'm a fragile thing and he did something wrong I'll break.
"I I I....its just so fast for me Mr. Summers I don't know what to say?" he instantly replied "its ok Evaline, I completely understand it that its not easy to forgive a person who has been behaving like a jerk all the time with you and suddenly he is doing opposite.." I cut him off "its not like that Mr. Summers..." he kept his index finger on my lips to shut me up and I froze at his action.
"Call me Xander"
"Whhhat" I was stunned
"My name is Xander, so don't call me Mr. Summers"
"but why? Everyone calls you Mr. Summers..." he again put his finger on my lips to stop me from saying any further.
"I will remove my hand only if you call me by my name otherwise I'll start behaving like a jerk with you" at that I raised my eye brows in fear "just kidding but you will call me Xander even in front of everyone, got it." I just nodded cause his finger was still on my lips and the warmth it was giving my lips was so tempting that I was mentally restraining myself from kissing his finger so I jerked back a little and cleared my throat. There was this silence between us that it was scaring me as well as making me go crazy as he was so close to me that I could see his facial features very clearly and I don't know who was leaning towards whom whether it was me or him but one thing was clear that we were only inches apart from each other. If our lips moved a little further it would convert in to a kiss. My heart was hammering against my lungs and I knew that he was listening it and I could also feel his hot and short breath on my face as if he is stopping himself from something but on other part I was praying that he may kiss me but god has some other plan cause suddenly his phone rings and he curses under his breath to interrupt the moment but for me I thanked god cause it made me realised of the situation, of the mistake which I was going to do as per Mr. Summers I mean Xander it would be a mere kiss as he can have and might had many women in his life but for me it would mean a lot as it would have become my first kiss and I want it to be special.
I excused myself while he was on the phone and when I reached the door to get out Xander called me while turning the screen of phone off. "Evaline would like to go on dinner with me? I know you haven't said it but you have forgiven me so let me just make it up for the time I ruined" he paused "Please" I could see the unsurity in his eyes as if he was expecting me to say no but with the way he behaved today and showed me his sweet side I wanted to give him a chance so I said with a blush "I would like to go on dinner with you Mr. Sum.... I mean Xander" he was shocked or surprised to listen to my answer and he replied to me by grinning from ear to ear, the heat was flushing my face and I knew it cause nobody asked me to go on date I mean on dinner not even Brian. We never went on date or for dinner outside alone.
As I returned home I was in myself I mean I don't know what my mother said to me or my sister said I just went up to my room, laid on my bed and thought about today. What has happened so suddenly and Xander, his name is Xander he told me to call him Xander my heart was fluttering and going on date with him was my last thought before sleeping.
