Chapter 39

Xander POV

I was feeling empty, like a part of me is left  out. Evy has become a part of my life even though I have known her for such a short time period. I blame myself for all this mess, if I would have not been there during their dinner...God I really missed her now. It has been a week since the incident and she has not returned to the office so when i contacted Admond he told me she is in his company doing work from there, at which I was really angry that she didn't even contacted the HR for her leave. After a lot of thinking i finally got the reason, an excuse to meet her face to face. I know I made a big mistake but what she is doing is wrong cause it's making me and Adrian go crazy and feel hurt. "She doesn't even know it cause you dumb ass didn't tell" Adrian growled me at which i was quite cause he was right she doesn't known who she is to me, what she is doing too me, but i want her to love as I'm before telling her and freaking her out. "You really are doing a great job in this regard, good luck" Adrian scoffed at me to which I just rolled my eyes.

I contacted Admond "where is she?" I knew he understood about what I'm talking because he immediately answered my question "she is in her office working on the project" and after  little pause he said "look Alpha, i don't know what happened but i know one thing that whatever happened between you two it has affected her the most cause the girl I remember is not the one who is sitting in the cabin right now. She was the happiest person in this company and now she is the most silent one which is not acceptable by me. Yes, yes it's me telling you alpha that you need to solve it soon or i'm not backing you up anymore." all the words told me that it's not only me who is hurting she is equally hurting and that too very badly so I instructed him to tell her that she has to report to my company and clear her issues here before starting to work from there.

I was in my thoughts about my Evaline when my desk phone buzzed indicating that Lexi is calling me so I pressed the speaker and you know what I got the best thing in the world. Lexi told me that Evangeline is coming up to discuss some problems which made my hopes rise regarding solving our difference, so I waited impatiently. there was a knock on the door so controlled my emotions and told the person behind the door to enter in same voice which I use but things which happened after it shattered all my hopes and I was fighting Adrian for control.

Evy POV

I have been so quite This morning Admond called me and ordered to clear the issues with the other company before starting to work here so went to the office and found Lexi engrossed in her work so I was about to knock on the desk when she said my name without looking up stopping me form knocking and when I asked her how does she knew it was me she said something about my scent well it was above my brain so I just ignored it. then she told me that I have to talk to Mr. Summers for the whole detail so I went to his office and took a deep breath to calm my nerves then I knocked.

His voice, the same voice which make me all mushy inside is doing the very same thing right now even after all the incident which have occurred I can't bring myself to hate this voice, hate the person behind this voice so without wasting any time and making him aware of my emotion I suppressed my feeling and entered the room, the exact room where everything started and led to other things.

"Sir, this is the file of the project, I have collected all the details regarding this so the person won't get confused and he/she will be able to take this project forward without any problem." by the look he was giving me I understood that he is clueless regarding the things  so I said it very bluntly to him "Sir, I'm not going to take the charge of this project anymore, I'm resigning from this project, effective from today" at this he took a sharp breath as if I slapped him and got from his chair and slowly walked towards me as a hunter moves towards it's prey. My heart was running 200 per minute but I reminded myself about the reality and truth. Reality that we can not be together cause his and mine are two different world and truth that we can never be together cause a person like him can only play with my feelings and nothing else, he was merely inches away from me as I can feel his cool peppermint breath on my face. He caressed my cheek with the back of his hand giving  an electrifying sensation which made me weak on my resolution so I flinched from his touch and stepped back but then I saw something which I myself can't believe as I was already drunk on his presence. His eyes were changing the color from hazel to dark hazel with a golden ring to pitch black one in seconds fraction then he closed his eyes and turned giving me his back and then said "I know I hurt you Evangeline, but still I want to apologies for my behavior, can you do that? can you forgive me for that? can you let me make up to you for that?" and I was like what is the problem of this man he has a girlfriend and he made sure of that on that day then he ruined my dinner making me suffer and now out of blue he call to handover the project and when I'm doing it, he want my forgiveness, WOW man I mean seriously this much act is really not required at least not with me cause I know where I stand among the female ranking. So i said "Sir no need for this act cause every person knows about you that you are not the person who ask for something and out everyone especially from me." at which he turned so fast it felt and grabbed my arms and gazed straight in to my eyes as if trying to apologies with eyes itself and said in a mixed voice as if it was not natural "don't you dare to compare yourself with other Evy. You are special to me." to which I said while laughing "how many times have you said this thing and to how many girls?" then he did something which I was not expecting he punched in the desk so hard that it shattered in to pieces and his knuckles were bleeding very badly so I rushed towards him, took his hand and dragged him to the couch while taking a first aid kit. 

I made him sit there and started cleaning his wound, there was a thick silence in the air that you can cut with the knife itself. I almost did it when he reached and took my loose strands of hair behind my ear and moved to my neck and with his thumb he tilted my chin upward so he could look in t my eyes.

Xander's POV

When she was cleaning my wound I felt a tear drop on my finger so I took the loose stands of her hair behind her ear, moving towards her neck moving her chin up so that I could look in her eyes. She was trying to hold her tears and the feeling of hurt but was failing miserably.

"Evy, I'm really sorry, I really am. I was not thinking straight that day, the incident in my office with Beatrice and you I was not able to say something cause she is a problem I want to solve without creating any other problem and if I took your side that day then it would have created a complicated one and then  after listening that you are going out on date with someone else, I just lost it.." "Why, Why did you lost?"she interrupted with the look of surprise, shock and curiosity at which I chuckled  and said "you really don't see it don't you?" giving me a puppy look and asked innocently " What do I don't see?" at this question i just pulled her on my lap in such a way that she was having her legs on either side of my thighs.......
