Chapter 14: What's the Big Deal?

Later that night Ian came by to check on Charlotte. 

"Hey mom" said Ian to Erin, "Where Charly?"

"In bed asleep, she is fine though" 

"I figured just wanted to check on her"

Erin seemed very flustered, she was doing dishes 

"What's wrong?" he took a seat

"Its just I can't help but think that I need to always be right there with her for when it happens"

"You can't be though"

"Well someone at least always needs to be"

"I agree with that, I can get her one of those emergency bracelets"

"Thats a good idea"

Just then Ethan walked in the kitchen.

"Ethan" said Ian

"Ya" he said barely acknowledging him and getting milk from he frig, he drank right out of the carton.

"Ethan, how many time do I have to tell you not to do that?" said Erin to him.

"Sorry" said Ethan putting in back. 

Erin sighed. 

"Good job today with Charlotte" said Ian.

Ethan shrugged "Thanks"

"Are you okay?" asked Erin.

"I mean I guess, it was scary you know" 

"Ya I do know" said Ian, "But you did good"

"Its well" said Ethan.

Ian gave him a look.

"You did do very well today" said Erin to him, she kissed his forehead.

He walked away. 

"Well I gotta get home. Call me if anything changes with her, but she will be fine"

"Thanks sweetie" said Erin hugging him.

"No problem" he hugged back and then headed to the front door.

Paul stopped him as he also just walked in the door

"Ian!" he said quickly, "I thought I might catch you here"

"I'm just leaving" said Ian continuing out the door, Paul followed.

"You need to talk to Luke" said Paul

"About what?"

"What he did today"

"And what did he do today?"

"He was upstairs blasting music and never heard Ethan yell for him, when Charlotte had a seizure. He can't just ignore her when he's suppose to be watching her."

"Thats true, but why didn't you talk to him" said Ian trying to get into his truck 

"I did, I just, I'm just pissed" said Paul, "What if Ethan wasn't there or didn't know what to do??" Paul was raising his voice.

"But he did know and was there"

"So what!"

"Paul you're making a big deal out of nothing"

"Aren't you concerned?"

"Look" said Ian turning around to him "Someone is always going to be there for Charlotte when it happens, she is never left alone. Now its late and I had a long day" and Ian got in his truck and started to pull out leaving Paul there. 

Not 2 minutes later Blaine pulled up and Paul was still standing there waiting.

"Blaine!" said Paul running up to this car.

"What?" Blaine didn't seem like he was in a good mood.

"Did you hear what happened today?"

"No"

"Charlotte had a big seizure"

"What? Is she okay?" he got concerned.

"Ya she is fine, but it was Ethan who gave her shot in stuff, then I walked in the door"

"Oh good"

"No, not good" 

"What? Why?" Blaine was confused as he made his way to the house, trying to ignore Paul.

"Because Luke was upstairs blasting music and ignoring Charlotte, when he was suppose to be watching her."

"Why are you telling me this?" Blaine was growing more annoyed by the second.

"Because you need to talk him" 

Blaine then got super mad "You know what! I'm sick and tired have to solve everyone's problems around here! No one ever asks me about my problems!!" and then he stormed off.

Paul ran after him. They were in the front entrance way.

"Blaine wait" said Paul grabbing his arm.

Blaine pulled away. "No. I'm done. You all can figure them out yourself" and he stormed up the steps.

"What was that about?" asked Luke who came down the steps.

"Just go away. I can't talk to you right" 

"Ok...what's wrong with you?" asked Luke annoyed.

"You! You did something totally stupid and irresponsible today!" yelled Paul 

"Are you serious?!?" yelled Luke. 

"Yes I am!"

"I said I was sorry, I apologized to Charlotte and I got yelled at by dad. I won't happen again!"

"You say that kind of stuff all the time" Paul started to walk away. Luke followed.

"She's my sister I'm not just going to neglect her" 

"Proved that today" said Paul sarcastically.

"You're being ridiculous" said Luke 

"Me!" yelled Luke.

Then Kevin and Erin came out, they looked ready for bed.

"Hey!" yelled quietly Kevin, "Charlotte is asleep, its quiet time after 9pm. And we don't yell at each other in this house!"

"What is going on?" asked Erin.

"Nothing" said Paul.

"Doesn't seem like nothing" said Kevin.

"Luke should've been there today" said Paul.

"I know! and I'm sorry"

"Keep your voice down" said Kevin.

"He knows that and we've talked about" said Erin.

"Yes, so let it go and either go to bed if you are staying over. Or go home" said Kevin, "It is too late for this" 

Paul left angry and Luke headed upstairs.

"What has gotten into everyone?" asked Erin.

"I don't know, but I'm calling a family meeting" said Kevin.
