Chapter 17: High on Candy and Breaking Rules

It was halloween and Charlotte and Carter could hardly contain their excitement. Nol was taking the first shift of watching them. As Kevin and Erin were out and Carter's parents were also going to be out.

"Would you relax" said Nol, "You haven't even had candy yet"

He was driving to a neighborhood nearby to trick or treat and then back to their house for a sleep over.

"Halloween is the best holiday!" yelled Charlotte.

"Hey inside voices" demanded Nol.

"Candy and costumes!" yelled Carter.

Nol pulled into their friend Jack's house. 

 "I'll be back here at 7:30 to pick you all up" said Nol, "Don't do anything stupid"

"We never do!" yelled Charlotte getting up.

"Sure" said Nol rolling his eyes.

It was later in the night and they were back at Charlotte's house. They were watching a movie in the playroom.

"No" said Charlotte, "Thats a stupid idea"

"The only way we are gonna know if its really haunted or not is to go on halloween"

"But we aren't allowed"

"You're just scared"

"Am not!"

"Then lets go, its a perfect time, Nol doesn't pay attention to us"

Charlotte nervously thought about it.

"Its dark, we barely found it during the day"

"It'll be fine"

"We have to back in under an hour or Nol will notice"

"No problem"

And with that Charlotte and Carter snuck out of the house to go back to the murder house.

About 45 minutes later....

Ian walked into the door.

"Nol! I'm here to relief you of your duties" yelled Ian. He found Nol in the living room watching TV.

"Thank God. I have a party to get to"

"They asleep?"

"I don't know. They were watching a movie last time I checked"

"Nol. Its almost 10pm" said Ian annoyed.

"So what its halloween" said Nol getting up.

"Please tell me you at least know where they are?"

"Playroom" said Nol annoyed

Ian rolled his eyes and head upstairs. Once up there he found that they weren't there and weren't anywhere upstairs. He ran back downstairs. 

"Nol!" 

"What?" asked Nol annoyed again.

"They aren't there!" 

"What?"

"Seriously? You were suppose to watch them which requires knowing where they are!"

"Relax they couldn't have gone far"

Just then Ben walked in.

"Why are you here?" asked Nol.

"I got stood up" 

"Wow" said Nol.

"Shut up" said Ben.

"Both of you shut up" said Ian, "Nol, think, where would they go?"
