Chapter 6: She'll Be Okay

Charlotte was in the MRI machine. Ian was in the side room watching the screens with the technicians and nurses. She was still unconscious. David had gone out to talk to his mother and siblings. 

Out by the nurses station were Kate and Erin. David came out. 

"David, how is she? The nurses said she is getting an MRI. So we can't see her. Is Ian with her?"

"She is still unconscious but is stable" said David, "Lets go over here and talk" 

They walked over to the other side of the hall. 

"Mom the last time she had a seizure was when she was like 3?" asked David.

"Yes, I'm pretty sure. You think she had another one?"

"Ian thinks its definitely a possibility"

"That's why she is having an MRI?" asked Kate.

"Ya. She is back there now with Ian" 

"She is going to be okay right?" asked Kate.

"I don't know right now" said David.

Meanwhile back at the MRI.

"Right there" said Ian pointing at the screen, "Call Dr. Kallen. I want a second opinion" he said to a nurse.

"Dr. Kennedy. I think she is awake" said a nurse.

Ian looked up from the screen and saw Charlotte moving in the machine. "Turn it off!" he yelled. He then ran into the room as Charlotte was coming back out of the machine. She was crying and very confused. She had taken off the oxygen mask. 

"Hey, hey. Its okay, you are fine" said Ian trying to calm her down. He held her head in his hands and was combing through her hair trying to calm her down.  She was talking and was really confused. He tried taking her hand, but she wouldn't grip his hand. That concerned Ian. 

"Charlotte can you understand me?"

"Ya" she said softly.

"Do you remember what happened?"

She looked around confused. And reached up and wrapped her arms around his neck. Ian hugged. 

"I need you to lay down though" she wouldn't let go.

Dr. Kallen came rushing in. The nurses were around too. 

"She's awake and talking" said Ian as he picked her. He held her close. Closing her hospital gown. 

"She needs to lay down" said Dr. Kallen.

"I know.... Charlotte I'm going to put you down". He slowly laid her back down on the gurney.

"Lets get her back to the room" the nurses went to take her away. She screamed.

"Hey, hey its okay. I'm going to be right behind you. You will be fine" he said kissing her forehead.

The nurses took her away. 

Ian sighed in relief and rubbed his forehead. 

"Let's go look at those scans" said Dr. Kallen. They left to go look at the scans some more.

Meanwhile Charlotte was wheeled back into her room. Just as David, Kate and Erin were walking down the hall. Erin ran over. 

"Mom!" said Charlotte.

"Hey sweatheart" said Erin comforting her. 

Charlotte was crying

"Its okay, you are fine" said Erin calming her down.  

Kate was combing her hand over Charlotte's hair.

David sighed in relief.
