Alex was the first to wake up. It was only 5 am. He looked at Matt who was still sound asleep. I don’t think the guy’s got plans this early. I’ll just take a morning jog while everyone is asleep, he thought. He got up and got dressed, careful not to make a sound so as not to wake up his roommate. He put on his favorite running shoes and got his Iphone, earbuds, wallet and room key. He tiptoed to the door and slowly closed it after he got out. As he was about to exit the suite, a voice behind him startled him.

“San ka pupunta ng ganito kaaga?” asked the voice in a whisper.

“Aaaaah----!” his scream got cut short as a hand clamped over his mouth. He turned around ready to pummel whoever just crept up behind him when he saw that it was Sue.

“Oh my gosh! You scared the daylights out of me!” he whispered back.

Sue was trying to keep her laughter down so as not to wake up the others. “Eh kasi naman para kang magnanakaw kung maglakad.” She was still laughing.

“I was trying not to wake up anyone. I didn’t know na may iba pang gising,” he said quietly. “I woke up early and couldn’t go back to sleep so I decided that I would go for a morning run. How about you? What are you doing up so early?”

“Tatakbo din sana sa baba,” Sue said.

“Oh wanna go together?”

“Sure. Pero please lang ha wag kang sisigaw,” she joked.

“Then don’t take me by surprise.”

They headed down to the lobby and walked to the beach. They agreed to jog for at least a mile then head back. Neither one talked during their jog as both were listening to music from their Iphone with their earbuds on. It was 6:30 am when they finished and they headed back to their hotel. They decided to rest a little by the lagoon before heading up to their room. Alex got them both water to quench their parched throats from the run.

“Tahimik ka lang noh?” Sue asked Alex who was silent in his chair.

“Yeah, I’m usually quite around other people, especially pag hindi ko pa close,” Alex answered shyly.

“Pansin ko nga. Kasi try kong i-remember ung mga series na sinabi mo at kung nakita kita sa mga taping. Ang naalala ko lang, lagi kang nasa isang sulok hawak ung gitara mo. Minsan may kakausapin pero most of the time mag-isa ka lang.”

“Shy talaga ko. Kasi nung bata pa ko outcast na talaga ko so it stayed with me and I just kept to myself. My mom was shocked when she heard I entered showbiz kasi nga she knows how shy I am.”

“Kamusta naman ang showbiz career mo?”

“It’s okay. I’m still trying to get used to the crowd and un nga, nag-woworkshops ako so I can learn and improve in the craft. But overall, I really like it.”

“Masasanay ka din.”

“I know. I’m being patient, trying to wait for my big break and in the process, learn more about this new venture of mine,” Alex answered. “Uhhhmm…Can I ask you something? I hope you won’t get mad at me.”
