Chapter 18 - Dazed and Confused

“Jade,” Alex said after he entered the room and plopped himself on the bed next to Sue and planted a kiss on her cheeks, “musta?”

“Uhm,” Sue replied.

“Oh,” Alex said after seeing Sue’s puffy eyes. She looked like she had been crying. He stared at her with a questioning look.

“Uhm,” Sue said again, “bakit ngayon ka lang? San ka galing? Kumain ka na ba?”

“Uh,” Alex said recovering from his confusion, “okay lang ako. Uhm…galing nga pala ko sa…Binondo.”

Sue sniffled. She tried to fix herself. “Uh…” Sue said. It was her turn to be confused.

“Kanila Onyx,” Alex finished.

“Bakit?” Sue asked looking at Alex with the same expression Alex had when he saw her crying.

“Kinausap ko sya. Sabi ko sa kanya sana maging parte sya ng kasal natin dahil importante sya sa yo. I asked him to be the man of honor,” Alex told her excitedly. “Parang katumbas na din ng maid of honor.”

“Eh, anong sinabi nya?” Sue asked.

“Sabi nya…Yes,” Alex answered happily.

“Uh,,” Sue said surprised, she couldn’t believe what he just said. “Totoo?”

“Oo,” Alex answered, shifting his position so that he was facing her, “bakit naman ako mag-jojoke sa mga ganyan-ganyan bagay? Of course! He said yes.”

“Andy salamat ha!” Sue said. She was ecstatic. She was happy. Her eyes filled with tears of joy. She leaned over and hugged Alex tightly. Alex returned the hug and patted her back. He laughed softly, showing off his shared happiness with Sue.

“Okay,” Direk Erik said. “Okay na yan. Let’s call it a night and resume tomorrow at Laura’s shop.”

They all packed up and headed home. Alex, as usual, approached Sue and helped her with her things, even though she had her own PA. He walked her to her van and said goodnight. Still, he didn’t say anything about what she told him nor did he give her any signs that he is courting her.

After having told Alex that she was ready to accept suitors, Sue expected Alex to confess or at least start courting her. However, everything between them remained the same. This left her confused.

Na-misinterpret ko lang ba ung mga pinapakita nya? Sue asked herself. She was at her home, lying in bed. They had finished their taping for the day. Tomorrow is another day of work for her but its going to be short since they were only going to film a few scenes at Laura’s shop. She tossed and turned, trying to fall asleep but to no avail. She sat up and leaned against the headboard of her bed.

“Assumera ka kasi Sue!” she scolded herself, “Porket nagpapakita ng ka-sweetan, feeling mo may gusto na sa yo.”
