Sue was stroking Alex’s hair, crying. She blames herself for what happened. They even had an argument the night before. She sat down on the chair next to his bed. She looked at him with longing, sadness, and worry. She held his hand but it felt cold and lifeless in hers. She cried and cried.
She left the room and waited at the lobby with Gigi and the others. The nurse came out and informed them that JC was awake. She headed towards JC’s room. Tubes were connected to him. A machine beeping by his side.
“Onyx!” Sue exclaimed, rushing to JC’s bedside, “Onyx salamat naman sa Dyos at ligtas ka.”
“Si Andy?” JC asked.
“Unconcscious pa rin,” Sue told him, “hinabol nya kasi ung…taong bumaril sa yo eh. Pero alam ko sya na din ung susunod na magigising.”
“Sabihin mo sa kanya salamat ha? Niligtas nya ang buhay ko,”
“Salamat din sa yo Onyx,” Sue said sincerely, crying, “niligtas mo ang buhay ko. Bakit ba kasi sa kin nangyayari to? Bakit kayong dalawa pa ni Andy? Buti ikaw nagising ka na. Pano si Andy kung…”
“Shhhh…” interrupted JC to what Sue was about to say, “baka nalilito ang Diyos…. Kausapin ko sya…at sabihin ko…na ako na lang kunin nya…”
“Onyx,” Sue said crying, “Onyx…wag ka naman magsalita ng ganyan.”
“Kasi alam ko…na mas magiging masaya ka pag si Andy ang naiwan…” JC said in a hushed voice, it was obvious that it requires so much effort for him to talk.
“Onyx hindi,” Sue disagreed, “wag ka naman magsalita ng ganyan…upakan kita dyan eh gusto mo?”
“Basta kahit san ako makarating…dahil ewan ha…darating ako,” JC told Sue.
“Onyx…wag ka naman magsenti…pahinga ka na lang ok?” Sue said sniffling and fixing Jc’s blanket, “dali na.”
“Jade…” JC called her name, “gusto kong marinig na…mahal mo ako…bestfriend…kasi mahal na mahal kita.”
“Mahal…na mahal…na mahal kita…bestfriend ko,” Sue said sincerely, “pagaling ka ha…man of honor ka pa sa kasal ko.”
Sue left JC’s room to allow him to rest. She then headed towards Alex’s room.
“Pinapasabi nga pala ni Onyx…salamat daw…dahil sinubukan mong hulihin ung taong bumaril sa kanya,” Sue talked to Alex while the machine was beeping next to her, “ang tapang mo pala eh…kaya mas lalo akong naiinlove say o eh.”
Alex was lying on the bed, unconscious. There was no response from him. Sue was holding his hand in both of hers.
“Andy…Andy gumising ka na,” Sue cried, “malapit na ung kasal natin…wag mo naman akong pakabahin ng ganito oh.”
