Chapter 17 - Waiting

After the taping in Batangas, the cast continued their shoot in Manila. Since the proposal was scene was done, it was time to shoot the wedding prepartions. They were in the ChenJean office for the next scene.

Alex rushed inside the office excitedly and shut the door behind him.

“Jade,” Alex said as he walked towards Sue who was sitting behind her desk. Sue looked up at him. “I just spoke to our wedding coordinator,” Alex continued as he sat down on the chair in front of her desk, “meron tayong assignment. We just have to pick out the church, reception venue, at list ng abay. Ako pinili ko si Trevor for my best man,” Alex looked at Sue and smiled, “What about you? Maid of honor?”

Sue stared into the space in front of her. She was quiet and didn’t answer Alex’s question. She looked down at the papers she was working on. Alex’s smile disappeared.

“Uhm,” Alex began, “Jade?”

Still no response from Sue who, again, stared into space.

“Ja—ade?” Alex called out again, trying to catch Sue’s attention, “Maid of honor?”

“Aah,” Sue said, snapping back to reality and looking at Alex, “uhm…” Sue hesitated and just stared in front of her.

Alex extended his left hand and held Sue’s hand which was on the table.

“Jade,” he said patiently and Sue looked at him, “look…we’re trying to organize our wedding here…sana mas maging attentive ka naman.”

“Sorry Andy,” Sue apologized, “inaalala ko lang kasi si Onyx eh.”

“Jade,” Alex asked with a hint of nervousness in his voice, “Are you…are you having second thoughts about the wedding?”

“Andy hindi,” Sue assured Alex, “malinaw sa kin na ikaw ang mahal ko. Na ikaw ang gusto kong makasama habambuhay. Pero tama ka…sabi ng isip ko wala akong kasalanan kay Onyx at wala silang dapat ikagalit sa akin. Pero…nararamdaman ko kasi na kailangan kong magpaliwanag kay Onyx eh…at sana mapatawad nya ko…at sana…pumayag sya na maging man of honor ko.”

Alex looked at Sue with an expression of both empathy and pain. He was hurt that at a time like this, Sue was still thinking of another man. Empathy because he understands that he is her bestfriend and she truly cares for him.

“CUT! Good take. Alex, I like the expression you gave in the end. Parang totoo talaga ung nararamdaman mo,” Direk Erik said while looking at Alex, his words carrying a double meaning.

“Ah…eh…salamat direk,” Alex said bashfully, his ears turning bright red because he caught the look that direk Erik gave him. Ganon ba ko ka-transparent? Alex asked himself.

“Okay…take five muna then we’ll shoot the next scene,” Direk said laughing softly when he saw Alex’s ears turn red. He knew that Alex got what he meant.
